O'Dwyer Doubles Through Weisner!

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

A massive hand just went down that has seen Melanie Weisner left with just 90,000 chips.

Steve O'Dwyer opened to 11,000 from the button and Weisner three-bet to 28,000 from the big blind. The action was back on O'Dwyer and he attempted to click it back but did not put enough chips in to make the raise legal, but because he had put in at least half of a legal raise he was told to put another 7,000 chips in.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that," said O'Dwyer

"It's OK because I'm all-in," came the reply.

O'Dwyer instantly called and showed {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts} to Weisner's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. The board ran out {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and whilst O'Dwyer was stacking his new 430,000 stack Weisner counted out her 90,000 chips.

Melanie Weisner Has Been Eliminated

Weisner goes from hero to zero
Weisner goes from hero to zero

If anyone needs a reminder that poker is a fickle game just go and ask Melanie Weisner. She has been our chip leader for most of the day but incredibly she is now out.

She opened with a raise to 10,000 and the action folded around to Stig Christensen in the big blind and he three-bet to 26,000. Back to Weisner and she moved all-in for 90,000 and Christensen called.

Christensen{A-Spades} {K-Spades}
Weisner{A-Hearts} {Q-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Clubs} {9-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} and amazingly Weisner was eliminated.

Neuville Claims Lead With Biggest Pot of the Tournament

Pierre Neuville
Pierre Neuville

The biggest pot (easily) of the tournament so far has seen Team PokerStars Pro Pierre Neuville rocket into the chip lead with close to a million chips.

The Belgian raised to 12,000 from first position and was called by Michael Tureniec on the button and Jacob Rasmussen in the small blind.

The flop fell {3-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and the action checked to Tureniec who bet 21,500. Rasmussen called but Neuville check-raised to 100,000. Tureniec called but the Dane folded to leave the other two heads up to the {k-Diamonds} turn. Neuville led for 100,000 and called all-in when his Swedish opponent shoved.

Neuville opened {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for a turned two-pair. Tureniec was ahead until that juncture with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, but now he was behind and stayed that way after the {j-Diamonds} river.

Did Rasmussen Have The Heart Flush?

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Spencer Hudson opened the betting with a raise to 11,000 which sparked a flurry of callers. One player folded, Henrik Jeppsson called in the cutoff, Jacob Rasmussen called in the small blind and Juha Lauttamus called in the big blind.

Flop: {6-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} - The all heart flop was checked around by all four players.

Turn: {2-Spades} - The players checked to Jeppsson and he made it 16,000 to play. Rasmussen check-raised to 45,000, folding out everyone except Jeppsson who made the call.

River: {9-Clubs} - Rasmussen lead out with a 75,000 sending Jeppsson into the tank. He stayed fully submerged for four minutes, replaying the hand and gesticulating the betting actions as he did so. When he came back to the surface he did so with his cards in his hand and he passed them back to the dealer.

O'Dwyer Got What He Hoped For

Steve O'Dwyer is having a day like he did on Day 1a where he amassed an enormous stack. He hasn't quite reached those heights but he does have a top three stack again.

There was a raise to 10,500 from Bjarke Hansen in the cut-off that was called by Magnus Hansen and O'Dwyer in the blinds.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{9-Spades} and it was O'Dwyer who led for 19,000, only check-called by Hansen. Similar occurrences on the {9-Diamonds} turn were Hansen check-called a 45,000 bet. The river came {10-Diamonds} and Hansen checked for a third time. O'Dwyer looked deep in thought and then said, "I hope I sucked out" as he revealed {j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

He might well have done but we'll never know as Hansen mucked.

Wiese Takes One From Fernandez

Andreas Wiese
Andreas Wiese

Andreas Wiese raised to 13,500 on the button and Alejandro Fernandez defended the big blind. The flop was {K-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} and Fernandez came in with the check-raise after Wiese had made a 17,500 c-bet. Wiese did pay the 42,500 bill that Fernandez was charging him with, and they headed to the turn. The dealer handed the pair the {K-Hearts} and Fernandez check-folded to a 57,000 Wiese bet.
