Geert-Jan Potijk Eliminated in 14th Place (€60,000)

Geert-Jan Potijk
Geert-Jan Potijk

If I was a player still left in the field I would not want to be a player on the feature table right now, as that's where most of the eliminations are happening. It also means we keep getting incomplete information on the hands as well.

What we do know of Geert-Jan Potijk's exit is that he three-bet shoved with {k-}{9-} from the small blind after a cut-off raise. It was a case of bad timing for the Dutchman though as Daniel Gomez was waiting in the big blind with pocket queens. The board ran {5-}{2-}{j-}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts} to improve neither player's hand.

Ben Vinson Eliminated in 13th Place (€60,000)

What were we telling you about the TV table? Ben Vinson didn't take long to follow Geert-Jan Potijk off the stage after another badly timed move.

"Redbull" Robbie who's announcing the action for the TV recording told us that Vinson shoved with {10-}{9-} and was called by Andoni Larrabe holding pocket nines. Vinson received no help and looked understandably glum afterwards.

Mostafavi Doubles Up

Alex Mostafavi
Alex Mostafavi

Anatoly Gutrovoy raised to 85,000 in first position, Clayton Mozdzen three-bet to 200,000 in the cutoff before Alex Mostafavi moved all-in from the button for 520,000. Gurtovoy folded but Mozdzen made the call.

Mostofavi{Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Mozdzen{A-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

So Mozdzen was in pretty good shape to eliminate Mostafavi. That was until we saw the flop.

Board: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Hearts} {8-Hearts}

Mostofavi found the queen he needed and doubled up to 1,170,000

One and Two

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Rodrigo Caprioli raised to 90,000 on the button, Clayton Mozdzen three-bet to 200,000 from the small blind and Caprioli folded.

Alex Mostafavi raised to 80,000 on the button, Vadzim Markushevksi three-bet to 190,000 in the small blind and Mostafavi performed his usual act of counting his chips over and over again, before finally folding.

Anatoly Gurtovoy Elimated in 12th (€70,000)

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Anatoly Gurtovoy
Anatoly Gurtovoy

There was a little justice in this hand for Clayton Mozdzen, but Anatoly Gurtovoy won't want to hear that as he was on the bad side of the luck to bust.

Gurtovoy raised to 80,000 from early position and was only called by Mozdzen from the button en route to a {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop.

Gurtovoy checked to face a 100,000 bet that he raised up to 250,000. Mozdzen shoved and the Russian called all-in.

Gurtovoy: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Mozdzen: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Mozdzen said, "Turn the ace. I'm praying, please turn the ace."

The turn gave him what he wanted as it came {a-Diamonds} before the river was {9-Hearts}.

A very unlucky end for Gurtovoy. Mozdzen understood his pain as a he was eliminated in 14th at EPT Madrid in exactly the same way.

A Few More...

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Alex Mostafavi raised to 80,000 in early position and Anatoly Gurtovoy caleld in the big blind. the flop was {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}, Gurtovoy checked, Mostafavi moved all-in and Gurtovoy folded.

-

Lucille Cailly raised to 80,000 from early position and Alex Mostafavi defended his big blind. The flop was {10-Hearts} {9-Clubs} {2-Clubs} and Mostafavi check-raised to the tune of 205,000 after Cailly had raised to 105,000. Cailly took her time and decided to move all-in. Mostafavi took his time and folded before showing the lone {10-}.

Cailly ~ 2,800,000 Mostafavi ~ 1,000,000

Another Double for Mostafavi

Alex Mostafavi is on a roll and doubled up again in a hand that went into the break.

He raised from the cut-off and then shoved when Markushevski three-bet from the small blind. Markushevski got the count of 950,000 and made the call.

Markushevski: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Mostafavi: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The board ran {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds} to make Mostafavi a set.
