Access to the feature table is somewhat limited, but we were recently informed that Timothy Adams was eliminated. It happened after a preflop raising war resulted in him being all in with only to run into the of Simon Ravnsbaek. The board would provide no held and Adams made an early exit here on Day 2.
For those who don't know about Ravnsbaek, he is "Ministerborg" on PokerStars and had an impressive showing at this year's SCOOP, not to mention a couple of World Poker Tour appearances in the past year. Even so, in order to play the Super High Roller, Ravnsbaek sold €35K worth of action in small pieces to users on the Danish forum pokernet.dk. All told there's 94 stake holders, plus a couple more since he sold an additional 5k to friends.
Meanwhile, we noticed that Dan Smith has had a heck of a day, already up to 1.4 million here on Day 2. Some of that may have come courtesy of Erik Seidel, who began the day second in chips but has fallen to 300,000.
From under the gun, Artem Litvinov raised to 13,000. Juha Helppi called from the cutoff seat and Philipp Gruissem then moved all in for 88,000 on the button. Action folded back to Litvinov and he gave it up. Helppi quickly made the call.
Helppi held the and Gruissem the .
The flop, turn and river ran out and Gruissem doubled up.
Shortly after that, Gruissem was involved with Ignat Liviu on the flop. Gruissem had check-raised an unknown bet from Liviu to 45,000. Liviu came back with a reraise to 76,000 and then Gruissem shoved. Liviu quickly called with the for bottom set. Gruissem held the for top pair with a backdoor flush and straight draw.
The turn was the and river the , giving Liviu the win and sending Gruissem out the door.
We just witness a three-way all-in pot that saw a short-stacked Philipp Gruissem get his last 32,000 in with and Andrew Lichtenberger, who had 141,000, do the same with . Unfortunately for them both, Artem Litvinov had them both covered and at risk with .
The cameras swarmed the table as the dealer put down the flop . . . . Gruissem spiked his card to take the lead, though Litvinov was still out in front for the larger side pot. Neither the turn nor river changed a thing, and Gruissem tripled while Lichtenberger was felled by Litvinov.
JC Alvarado opened the action for 15,000 from the cutoff, which brought a three-bet to 36,000 by Chris Moorman in the small blind. Vadzim Kursevich, who won the EPT Deauville Main Event back in February, then made it 73,000 to go from the big blind, Alvarado folded, and Moorman shipped for approximately 250,000. Kursevich made the call and the cards were turned up:
Showdown
Kursevich
Moorman
Moorman was racing for his tournament life, but he was the one who needed to improve. The flop provided no help, but the turn and river did as it gave him a runner-runner straight and the win.
We stumbled upon the action with the board reading and four 25,000 chips in front of Ilya Bulychev for a bet of 100,000. The only opponent left in the hand was Philipp Gruissem who thought about it for a minute or two before making the call.
Bulychev showed for a full house and Gruissem mucked. The latter's stack wasn't big before, but the loss made it even smaller leaving him with just five big blinds.
Only one lady entered the 2012 PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller --Cheung Yin Sun. While she peacefully grinded on Day 1, today has been a different story as she just made her exit.
We're not sure of the details as we arrived at the table when Sin was departing, but we do know she held on a board. Unfortunately for her, JC Alvarado held and put an end to her tournament.
Action folded around to Mike Watson on the button and he put in a raise to 13,000. Jonathan Duhamel, who has two buys under his belt, was in the small blind and opted to push back to the tune of 34,000, which inspired JC Alvarado to four-bet to 70,000 from the big. Watson got out of the way, Duhamel made the call, and it was heads-up action to the flop.
Both players proceeded to check, the turned, and Duhamel fired out 76,000. It proved enough to win the pot as Alvarado simply mucked.
Despite losing that pot, Alvarado's stack is still up from the start of the day.
Four players were in action on the flop. The first three — [Removed:283], Phil Ivey and Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier — all checked in order to Peter Jetten and he bet 30,000. [Removed:288] quickly tossed in the call before Ivey and Grospellier folded.
The turn was the and [Removed:288] led for 45,000. Jetten gave it up and [Removed:288] won the pot.
There's been some all-in action going on in the room, one of which featured Ilari Sahamies versus Justin Bonomo. Sahamies bet 53,000 preflop and Bonomo shoved all in. The rest of the table folded and Sahamies called. The Finn had a bigger chip stack so it was Bonomo with his tournament life at risk. The Showdown
Bonomo
Sahamies
The board was uneventful and the two players split the pot.
On the flop, Terje Augdal and Igant Liviu got all the money in the middle. Liviu held the for top pair, top kicker and had the shorter-stacked Augdal on the ropes with the .
The turn was the and river the , both failing to improve Augdal and busting him from the tournament.
With Augdal's elimination, the field now has 42 players remaining. All of them are spread across six tables of seven players apiece.
