Day 1a Started
Welcome to the inaugural event of season nine of the European Poker Tour here on the beautiful beach front of Barcelona, one of Europe's greatest cities. We're at the Casino de Barcelona on the Marina for what looks to be a sellout event that'll cap off almost two weeks of solid poker action.
Both the Estrellas Main Event and the Super High Roller final tables are today and you can follow the latter here where Dan Smith leads a star-studded final table, which will also be streamed online.
But we'll be concentrating on the main event here and we're expecting a full concentration of Team PokerStars Pros with Day 1a expected to include Liv Boeree, Lex Veldhuis, Matthias De Meulder, Marcin Horecki and Daniel Negreanu.
Play starts at 12pm (CET) - you can follow all the action here from the first riffle to the last river card!
It's the first event of the new season and the number of entrants is set to be record breaking. It comes as no surprise to inform you the start is delayed somewhat. We'll be back with you as soon as the action kicks off.
Cards are in the air! Season 9 is officially under way.
Level: 1
Blinds: 50/100
Ante: 0
Choice match-ups include PokerStars Team Pros Lex Veldhuis and Arnaud Mattern sitting next to one another.
At the moment, there's about 450 players registered for today and the cap of 500 is expected to be reached. Tomorrow there will be a cap of 650 (given that the Estrellas Main Event will have finished) so if you're looking to play, it's probably best you register sooner rather than later.

Changes are afoot for the new season here on the European Poker Tour, and it's all good for the players.
There are extra levels in to improve the structure, and the 60-minute levels on day ones have been increased to 75 minutes. It's get even better after level 14 where the levels increase to 90 minutes in length.
Today we will get through eight of those levels with a split dinner break after levels five and six.
On her second trip to Barcelona for the European Poker Tour, Kristy Arnett takes you to more of her favorite spots in the city, while providing you with some helpful tips.
John Eames had made it to the river of a board whilst sat in the small blind. He was battling with his big blinded opponent and 1,200 chips had made it into the middle.
Eames led for 600 and opened when called. It was good as his opponent mucked.
The very next hand the same player three-bet Eames' open from button. Eames called but folded to a c-bet on a flop.
