We've just been told that so far 640 players are registered for Day 1b, selling out the tournament, and there is still a waiting list. A few players, including Michael Mizrachi and JP Kelly, waited until the last minute to try and get in, so they are now alternates.
Sidorenko apprehensively tossed out a T1,000 chip, and then called when [Removed:288] check-raised to 2,500. [Removed:288] then bet 1,500 on the turn, Sidorenko called, and the peeled off on the river. This time [Removed:288] bet just 200, which Sidorenko called.
[Removed:288] tabled for aces and fives, but it was no good as Sidorenko revealed for trips. [Removed:288], who is certainly an action player, is already down to 7,000.
An early-position player raised to 375 and received a call from Ondrej Vinklarek in middle position. Season IX World Poker Tour Player of the Year Andy Frankenberger then put in a three-bet to 1,100, which proved enough to win the pot as both his opponents folded.
It wasn't much of a hand, but it gave us an excuse to let you know that Frankenberger is already up to 41,000.
No Spaniard has ever won the title. The closest to do so was Dragan Kostic and Jesus Cortes Lizano, who both finished as runner-up in Season 8 and Season 7 respectively.
No player has ever made the final table twice.
Many Americans have made the final table over the years including Phil Ivey (2nd in Season 3), Jason Mercier (6th in Season 5) and Adam Junglen (6th in Season 4), but Carter Phillips was the only American to win the event, doing so in Season 6 after conquering a field of 479 players for €850,000.
There have been two winners from Sweden (Season 1 & 7) and two from Germany (Seasons 5 & 8); while the other winners have hailed from France (Season 2), Norway (Season 3), Denmark (Season 4) and United States (Season 6).
Ruslan Prydryk and Jacques Zaicik were the next two players out of the door.
That's means they'll have to chance of appearing on the feature table that currently includes Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Johnny Lodden, and Philip Gruissem.
Team Pro Christophe De Meulder opened for 375 from early position and was called by a middle-position player. The button then came along for the ride, both blinds folded, and the flop fell .
De Meulder wasted little time in betting 375, only the button called, and the dealer burned and turned the . This time both players checked, and then De Meulder checked the river. The button took the opportunity to fire out 1,500, and it did the trick as the Belgian pro folded his hand.
Despite losing that hand, De Meulder is still up over the starting stack with 36,000.
