Team Pros Finding the Going Tough Today

Yesterday all the PokerStars Team Pros apart from Martin Staszko made it through to day 2. The Team are finding that task much harder today, especially if they are based over in the casino.

We already lost Sebastian Ruthenberg, Max Lykov, Johnny Lodden and Jude Ainsworth; now Andre Akkari can be added to that list. He was short and slipped out quietly after losing his remaining stack.

He was joined by two other unfortunate souls.

Blom vs. Polychronopoulos

From early position Athanasios Polychronopoulos started the betting with a raise to 700. The action folded around to Team PokerStars Pro Viktor Blom and he made the call in the cutoff. Blom was the only caller so it was heads-up to the {Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop.

Polychronopoulos checked to Blom, Blom bet 1,000 and Polychronopoulos quickly called. The turn was the {6-Spades} and Polychronopoulos checked for a second time but Blom did not slow down, instead he set the price to play at 5,325 and this time Polychronopoulos got out of the way.

Tens for Veldhuis

From under the gun, Marco Rederer raised to 800. Team PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis called from middle position and everyone else folded.

The flop produced the {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {7-Diamonds} fall on the turn. Rederer bet 1,500 and Veldhuis called.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and Rederer fired 2,500. Veldhuis took a few moments to think and then called holding the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Rederer had a worse {5s{{5-Clubs} and lost the pot.

Ramdin Kicked Back Some

Ivan Todorovic raised to 1,000 from under the gun and Team PokerStars Pro Victor Ramdin called from the cutoff seat. The big blind also came along, to make for three-handed action to the flop.

The {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} rolled out and action checked over to Ramdin. He bet 2,000 and only the big blind called.

The {A-Clubs} was added on the turn and the big blind checked. Ramdin fired 4,000 and his opponent check-raised to 9,400. Ramdin gave it up and dropped back to 108,000 in chips.

Brombacher Bluffs The World Champion

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Pius Heinz may be the current World Series of Poker Main Event champion but he has been given little credit from Sascha Brombacher who just bluffed him off a hand.

Heinz opened with a raise to 800 from middle position and the player to his immediate left, Khalil Youssafi, made the call. Two players folded and Brombacher squeezed to 2,100. With the action back on Heinz he clicked it back and made it 3,825 putting the attention on Youssafi. He placed his "West Coast Choppers" cap back on, re-checked his cards before giving them back to the dealer.

Brombacher then moved all in for an additional 16,000 and Heinz insta-folded. As he did he was proudly shown the {Q-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Nice hand sir.
