"Dammit Daniel"

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst worked her stack from 47k to almost 300k within just three levels. That's just expected from Vanessa these days, really. We spoke with her table side a few hours ago about how she feels about TV tables, and her past experiences that Daniel Negreanu so kindly resurrected in his Weekly Rant.

Hoffmann at a Loss, Man

Mike Hoffmann fell just nine short of the money after he busted to Vasiliy Demushkin.

He open shoved for 19,500 from early position and was only called by the Russian in the cut-off.

Hoffmann: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Demushkin: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

The board ran {2-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and the German player looked understandability gutted.

Cesar Garcia Domínguez Flying High

Cesar Garcia Domínguez is flying high right now and has around 560,000 chips. Some of these chips belonged to Armin Zoike just a few moments ago but now they are Domínguez's possession.

Zoike found himself all in with {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} against the {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and the way Domínguez has been running there was only ever going to be one result. The hand was essentially over when the flop came down {3-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, leaving Zoike drawing to just two outs. The {10-Diamonds} turn was not one of them and neither was the {k-Diamonds} river and with that Zoike was eliminated and Domínguez's stack continues to grow.

There Comes a Time When A Man Has to Make a Stand

Marius Pospiech was very short on chips, so short that he made felt he had to make a stand with {a-Spades}{3-Clubs} in the big blind.

There had been a button raise from Jens Weigel and a flat call from the small blind. Pospiech re-raised to isolate with {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and it worked.

The board ran {q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. The first card Pospiech saw was the ace and one could see his hopes rise before being dashed when he realised there was also a queen on board.

Wigg Takes On Gruissem

Anton Wigg has just taken on Philipp Gruissem heads on and come away not only with his stack intact but with plenty of ceramic discs that used to belong to the German. Not many people can say that we can tell you.

We joined the action on a {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop where Gruissem checked to Wigg. The Swedish pro fired a bet of 14,500 and Gruiseem made the call. The turn card was the {Q-Spades} and Gruissem opted to check his option to bet. Wigg kept his foot firmly on the gas pedal and made it 27,000 to play all the time under the watchful eye of Gruissem. The German called.

The river brought the {4-Clubs} out of the deck and Gruissem checked for a third time and to keep the Ying and Yang in balance Wigg bet again, increasing the amount to 68,000. Gruissem sat staring at Wigg whilst riffling chips but whatever he thought was strong enough to call with on the flop and turn had suddenly become such a weak holding that he could not continue in the hand and he mucked.

Albertini Chips Up

From under the gun, Artem Litvinov raised to 11,000. Stephane Albertini flat-called from middle position and the flop came down {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Litvinov fired 15,000 and Albertini called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and both players checked. Then, the {K-Clubs} landed on the river. After Litvinov checked again, Albertini bet 26,500. Litvinov folded and Albertini won the pot.

High Five from Wigg to Kitai

Stephane Albertini started things off by raising to 8,500 from middle position. In the next seat, Anton Wigg reraised to 18,500. Then, action folded to Davidi Kitai in the small blind. He four-bet to 45,000. Play moved back to Albertini and he tank-folded. Wigg decided to make the call and matched the 45,000.

The dealer ran out the {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop and Kitai reached for chips. He bet 55,000. Wigg thought, then reached for a lot more chips. He fired back with a raise to 118,000. After a bit of deliberation with just under 260,000 behind, Kitai folded and showed the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. Wigg showed the {5-Clubs}, but nothing else, and gave a wry smile.
