During the break, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst came into the media room and told us about how she went from 47,000 to 230,000 in the first level of the day. That's a pretty impressive push in the first 75 minutes and she recalled one of her hands to us that gave her a big chunk of chips.
According to Selbst, she opened under the gun with the and a player in the small blind three-bet. She called and took the flop that contained two clubs. The small blind checked and Selbst bet 7,000 into about 15,000. Her opponent check-raised to 15,000 and she called.
The turn was an offsuit and both players checked to see the fall on the river. After the small blind bet 20,000, Selbst said she put him all in for his last 40,000 or so. Her opponent snapped holding pocket nines. Selbst won the pot with her top two pair and sent the player packing while raking in a big pot.

Cengiz Ulusu arrived as the chip leader and just expanded his lead. Read about his unique style on the PokerStars Blog.
Martin Jacobson started the day nursing a relatively short stack, well a stack that he would have felt more comfortable had it being twice the size that is for sure. Now he has turned that short stack into one containing 118,000 chips.
We saw Jacbson raise to 3,300 and after one player folded Spencer Hudson raised to 8,300 from the cutoff. Simon Ravnsbaek, on the button, four-bet to 14,000. The blinds got out of the way but Jacobson asked the dealer to confirm the size of Ravnsbaek's bet and once he had the information he sat for 20 seconds before moving all in.
Hudson squirmed in his seat a little before mucking and Ravnsbaek's cards found their way back to the dealer.

We joined the action on a board reading [5s where Tim Mitchell had checked from middle position and Triple Crown winner Jake Cody bet 12,200. Mitchell quickly called and it was off the the river. Mitchell tapped the table and checked but Cody gave him something to think about because he shoved his 70,000 remaining chips into the pot.
Mitchell tanked for 90 seconds before relinquishing his hand. Cody is on the climb.,

Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen has been all over the world as of late racking up the frequent flier miles. We've seen the Mexican pro in Australia, Korea and Europe over the past few months, but he hasn't done so well with racking up the tournament results. Maybe things will change here at the European Poker Tour Berlin, although this hand has him going the wrong way.
Guillen opened with a raise from middle position to 3,200 preflop. Ulrich Hellriegel called in the hijack seat and the flop came down . Guillen bet 4,200 and Hellriegel called.
The turn was checked by both players after the fell and then the river was also checked.
Hellriegel tabled the and Guillen mucked his hand, dropping back under 100,000 in chips. Hellriegel moved to 117,000.
