Wheeler Spinning His Wheels

With 500 in the pot and a flop of {4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Tony Chang checked from the big blind and watched Jason Wheeler toss out a purple T500 chip. Chang made the call and then checked for a second time on the {10-Clubs} turn. Wheeler put out another bet, this time 900, and it was enough to get the job done as Chang chucked his cards.

Despite that small win, Wheeler is still down quite a bit from the starting stack of 30,000.

Parmiggiani Busts Crapanzano

Salvatore Crapanzano was all in preflop for his last 12,000 or so with the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. He was up against the Leonardo Parmiggiani with the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The flop, turn and river ran out {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and Crapanzano was eliminated.

Seiver's Stack Severed

On a flop of {7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}, Wayne Bentley checked from the small blind to Scott Seiver who bet out 1,700. A late position opponent called and Bentley moved out a check-raise to 5,200. Seiver called and the late position player folded.

The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and both players checked to finish the board off with the {8-Hearts}. Bentley quickly tapped the table again and Seiver sat shuffling chips for about forty-five seconds before finally checking behind. Bentley showed {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Seiver released his hand into the muck.

Georgiev's Got Aces

Having Sam Chartier, Jonathan Duhamel and Joe Hachem at the same table doesn't mean that all the action is going to circle just around them.

Iurii Dzetsyna from Ukraine raised to 450 from under the gun before the flop and Bulgarian Nikov Dobromir Georgiev on his left three-bet to 1,125. Next to act was Timo Pfutzenreuter from Germany and he made the call. The rest folded, including the three notable pros and the initial raiser Dzetsyna, leaving only two players to see the flop.

The dealer opened {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, and both Georgiev and Pfutzenreuter checked. The German bet 1,400 on the {8-Hearts} turn with Georgiev check-calling. The river brought the {J-Hearts}, and both checked again. Georgiev opened the {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} for a two pair, and Pfutzenreuter showed the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. The aces were good, and the Bulgarian collected the pot.

Day 1a Departed

Fernandez Busts Rudd

Picking up with the action on a flop of {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts}, Daniel Rudd bet 1,000 and was called by Team PokerStars Pro Leo Fernandez. The {J-Clubs} hit the turn and Rudd fired again with a bet of 2,500. Fernandez inquired as to how much Rudd had left, put on his sunglasses, then opted to flat call.

The river brought the {Q-Clubs} and Rudd moved all in for 10,275. Fernandez counted out a call and after about a minute of thinking pushed it in the middle.

A dejected Rudd flung his {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} onto the table for merely ace-high. Fernandez tabled {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for the best hand and was able to send Rudd to the rail.

Quick Start for Ramdin

Victor Ramdin
Victor Ramdin

David Peters limped under the gun only to have Justas Vaiciulionis raise to 800 from middle position. Victor Ramdin called from the big blind, as did Peters, and it was three-way action to the {6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} flop. All three players ended up checking, and the dealer burned and turned the {9-Clubs}.

At this point Ramdin led out for 2,000, Peters folded, and Vaiciulionis called. The Team PokerStars Pro didn't slow down on the {8-Clubs} river and fired out 4,500, which proved enough to take down the pot as Vaiciulionis folded his hand. With that, Ramdin is already up to 58,000.

Darcourt and Others Depart

Guillaume Darcourt's hair almost turned back to pink with the way he ran today.

He exit hand came when he got his chips in with pocket tens, racing again the big-slick of Iacopo Brandi. Brandi made trip aces to seal his French opponent's fate.

Before that, most of the damage was done when he flopped a set of sixes on a {j-}{6-}{9-} flop. An opponent held pocket nines and neither player budged.

Palumbo's Day is Done

We're not sure of the details, but we do know that Rocco Palumbo was just eliminated at the hands of Ezio Ottaviani. We're not sure of the former's cards as the dealer had already mucked them, but we do know that Ottaviani held {8-}{8-} on a board reading {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts}{X-}.
