Seiver Eliminated In Brutal Fashion

Scott Seiver - See Ya
Scott Seiver - See Ya

We missed the early stages of the hand, but from what we can gather from others around the table, Scott Seiver's opponent led out on a board of {7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Seiver moved all in. His opponent made the call and showed {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, looking for either an eight or a queen to make his straight against Seiver's made set with {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

The dealer produced the river card - the {8-Clubs} - and the table let out a collective gasp. Seiver shot out of his chair in disbelief and was forced to exit the tournament area from a nasty river.

Duhamel Won't Come Back

Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

The 2010 World Series of Poker champion Jonathan Duhamel has just joined the list of Day 1a bust outs after running into Walid Bou-Habib. Duhamel shoved his stack from the middle position and everyone folded expect for Bou-Habib on Duhamel's right, who made the call.

Showdown:
Duhamel: {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}
Bou-Habib: {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}

The 2010 WSOP champion was covered and needed help from the board to survive. However, the {8-Spades} {6-Clubs} {2-Spades} {K-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} was not what Duhamel needed and Bou-Habib's sevens were good enough to send Duhamel to the rail.

Chop, Chop

After Andrew Lichtenberger fired 1,800 on the {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop, Jackson Genovesi raised to 4,400. Lichtenberger called.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds}, which paired the board. Lichtenberger checked, Genovesi bet 8,900, and Lichtenberger called.

The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Lichtenberger checked. Genovesi bet 11,300, and Lichtenberger made the call.

"Don't show me ace-queen," said Genovesi as he turned up the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Lictenberger showed the {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the same two pair, and the two chopped up the pot.

Smith Gone

Dan Smith was all in on the {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop with the {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. It was bad news for him that Lorenzo Sabato held the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for flopped trips.

After the {Q-Diamonds} fell on the turn, Smith needed a six on the river. The {7-Hearts} wouldn't do it, though, and Smith was out the door.

Big Ace for the Big Tuna

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

After a player had raised from early position, Gabriel Tuna moved all in from the hijack for 7,500. Gregor Nastran the called from the big blind, the original raiser folded, and the cards were turned up.

Showdown
Nastran: {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Tuna: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

It was a classic flip, but Tuna needed to improve in order to stay alive. The {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop didn't do it, and Tuna began to rise just as the dealer burned and turned the {A-Spades}. That was one of the cards he was looking for, and the safe {8-Hearts} on the river gave him a much-needed double; meanwhile, Nastran was left with just 9,000 after the hand.
