Last Season's European Poker Your Grand Final winner, Mohsin Charania, is not having the best day, but what might have ended in him being eliminated from the tournament, turned out Charania's way.
Charania raised to 400 in the middle position and Jackson Genovesi made the call in the hijack seat. Action folded to Russia's Nadir Yusupov on the button and he three-bet to 1,350. Charania didn't think about it too much and pushed his stack of 11,500 in front of him. Genovesi folded, and Yusupov gave it a really long thought. He finally decided to let his hand go showing . Charania mucked his his cards and collected the pot.
We missed most of the action on the hand, but came over when we saw that a load of chips were in the middle. The board read with roughly 22,000 already in the pot. Harrison Gimbel dropped in a stack of large denomination chips which was a bet that intended to move his opponent all in. Gimbel's opponent had roughly 16,000 behind and was making a decision for his tournament life. Eventually he opted to let go and Gimbel was awarded the pot.
Earlier, it was mentioned that two former World Series of Poker Main Event winners were seated at the same table with Joe Hachem and Jonathan Duhamel.
After an early-position player raised to 450, Duhamel, the 2010 WSOP Main Event champion, called from the hijack seat. Action then slid over to Hachem, the 2005 WSOP Main Event champion, in the cutoff seat, and he reraised to 1,500. The next three players folded, then the original raiser and Duhamel called.
The flop came down , and action checked to Hachem. He bet 1,500 with only Duhamel sticking in to see the turn.
The turn was the , and Duhamel checked. After Hachem fired 4,500, Duhamel folded.
We found Marco Fantini raise to 450 from the hijack only to have Konstantin Puchkov three-bet to 1,400 from the button. It folded back around to Fantini who wasted no time four-betting the action to 3,250. Puchkov flat called and the flop fell . Fantini led for 4,400 and Puchkov mulled over his decision for about thirty seconds before letting go of his cards.
Fabio Fedeli made a squeeze pre flop but then seemed to immediately lose interest when he was called in both spots.
The action folded to Athanasios Polychronopoulos in the cut-off and he opened to 450. Ilan Boujenah called from the button before Fedeli three-bet to 1,250 from the small blind. This caused Boujenah to smile and he called along with Polychronopoulos.
Fedeli hardly paid any attention for the rest of the hand and stared at the wall for most of it. The board ran out and it was Polychronopoulos who bet the river, for 2,300, and took the pot as both opponents folded.
That was the last table in the overflow room and broke at the conclusion of the hand.
With a little bit over 10,000 in the middle, Joe Kuether checked the board. Jason Lavallee raised to 3,200, and Kuether made the call to see the turn.
On the turn, the fell, and both players checked. The completed the board and added a fourth club. Kuether checked, and Lavallee fired 2,550. Kuether tanked for a bit, but ended up folding, and Lavallee won the pot.
As he was raking in the pot, Lavallee claimed that he "misclicked" on the river and meant to bet 7,050, mistaking the T500 chip for a T5,000 one.
With about 15,000 in the pot and a board reading , Charlie Combes checked from the big blind and Gani Jahaj did the same from the button. The action repeated itself on the river, and it appeared the king and ace had frozen the action as Combes revealed , which was no good against Jahaj's .
With that, Jahaj chipped up to 50,000 while Combes dropped to 21,200.
With 1,200 in the middle, Farhan Madhani fired 600 into Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier. Mercier raised to 2,050, and Madhani called.
The river was the to pair the board. Madhani checked, then Mercier fired 5,700. Madhani tanked for a bit, then folded, and Mercier won the pot to move back into the black on the day.
Italian Saman Ziarati in the middle position raised to 475 and Slovakia's Ondrej Majercik called in the cutoff seat. The rest of the table folded and the two saw come on the flop.
Ziarati continued for 1,125 and Majercik called again. The dealer opened on the turn and Ziarati bet another 1,525 only to be called b Majercik one more time.
The didn't trigger any betting action and Majercik showed for a ten-high straight, while his opponent opened a pair of threes .
