Deeb Goes Silent

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Gianluca Speranza raised to 2,500 in the middle position and Shaun Deeb, who was non-stop chatting to his buddies Isaac Haxton and Yevgeniy Timoshenko at the table, suddenly went dead silent after seeing his cards and made the call from the hijack seat. The rest folded, and the two went to the flop.

The dealer opened the {2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Speranza continued for 2,700, and Deeb called again. The {A-Clubs} on the turn received no bets, and neither did the {Q-Diamonds} on the river. Speranza showed the {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a pair of eights, which was good enough to make Deeb muck his hand.

Roy Gone, Lovgren Thriving, and Ainsworth Surviving

We didn't catch the hand, but Alain Roy has been eliminated from the tournament. In the every next hand after his demise, Sofia Lovgren opened for 2,700 from the cutoff only to have Team PokerStars Pro Jude Ainsworth three-bet to 5,900 from the small blind. Lovgren, who is up considerably since the last time we checked in with her, sent her cards to the muck.

Blain Magically Finds Kings in the Big Blind

It's never nice when you're short stacked and there is action on your big blind, unless you look down and see {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Just ask Dermot Blain.

There was an under the gun raise and a flat call from Maxime Conte in mid position before Blain moved all in for 28,800 from the big blind.

Conte called with pocket eights after the original raiser folded but failed to find a two-outer on the {7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} board.

Pagano Doubles Illiano

Luca Pagano opened from late position for 2,800 only to be three-bet by Alfonso Illiano from the button. Pagano was facing a raise to 6,100 and decided to four-bet his opponent all in by plopping down a large stack of blue t5,000 chips. Illiano called and showed {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} which was ahead of Pagano's {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Pagano was forced to ship 27,700 over to Illiano. Pagano is now sitting on about 57,000.
