Charania Spinning His Wheels

Earlier this year, Mohsin Charania took down The 2012 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo® Casino EPT Grand Final for €1,350,000 and etched his name in EPT history. Charania is in action today, but he's had trouble getting anything going.

In a recent hand, action folded to Charania in the cutoff and he raised to 600, which Mikita Badziakouski called from the small blind. The {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs} inspired Badziakouski to lead out for 1,900, Charania called, and the {10-Spades} appeared on the turn. This time Badziakouski slowed down a check, but he called when Charania bet 3,300. Both players then checked the {10-Diamonds} river, and Charania tabled {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Unfortunately for him, it was no good as Badziakouski held {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

The Raising War

When we reached Table 17, Georgios Kapalas, a PokerStars Greek Challenger, had a three-bet of 1,900 sitting in front of him. Russian Nikita Nikolaev, who we assumed opened, put in a four-bet to 5,600. Kapalas responded with a five-bet to 10,900, but Nikolaev wasn't going anywhere - he six-bet to 37,600.

The bet was actually worth 33,000 - the remainder of Kapalas' stack - and he opted to wait for another hand. He folded, and Nikolaev raked in the pot.

Brammer Blows a Sigh of Relief

Chris Brammer looked at Nick Abou Risk and exhaled in a show of relief after a river shove got through against two opponents.

The pot had swelled to about 12,000 by the turn and Brammer - out of position to Tomas Junek and Elie El Feghali - bet 6,500. Both players called and the board was complete as {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

The talented Brit, who makes a living playing the French online, shoved for 20,725 and both opponents released their hands.

Nikitina Doubles

Robert Genoud opened to 800 in middle position, David Boyaciyan called on his direct left, and Natalia Nikitina moved all in for 6,400 from the blinds. Genoud four-bet, isolating Nikitina, and Boyaciyan indeed folded.

Genoud: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Nikitina: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop launched Nikitina into the lead, and the {q-Diamonds} on the turn slammed the door on the hand. A meaningless {k-Hearts} fell on the river, and Nikitina more than doubled to around 14,000 chips.

Genoud slipped to 77,000 chips.

Chen vs. Tureniec / Big Slick vs. Queens

We're not sure of the betting, but a preflop raising war resulted in Andrew Chen, who took third in this very event back in Season 5, being all in preflop for 33,575 and racing against Michael Tureniec.

Showdown
Chen: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Tureniec: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Chen had a 43.03% chance of winning the hand, while Tureniec was the 56.55% favorite. Luckily for Chen, the {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades} flop paired his king and made him a 90.61% favorite. The {8-Diamonds} turn made that 97.73% and left Tureniec drawing to a one outer. Not surprisingly, it wasn't in the cards as the {5-Diamonds} fell on the river to give Chen a flush and the double. Tureniec was left with just 5,600 after the hand.

The table, which also included Ole Schemion and Tony Chang, broke shortly thereafter.

Ace-High Takes Down Large Pot

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

First to act, Sergey Kuzminskiy raised to 800. Two folds later and the action was on Chris Brammer and the British pro three-bet to 1,600. The action then passed to the cutoff, Elie El Feghali, who called. But that was not the end of the action. Kuzminsky then raised to 3,300 and both active players called.

The {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop saw all three players check, but the {6-Spades} turn prompted Kuzminskiy to lead out with a 5,500 bet. Brammer folded and El Feghali called. That was the last of the betting because both players checked the {j-Hearts} river.

Kuzminskiy opened up {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and it was good for the pot, a El Feghali mucked his hand.
