Gonzalez Is Putting On A Show

Diego Gomez Gonzalez
Diego Gomez Gonzalez

Ben Warrington opened for 50,000 from early position and received a call from Aleh Plauski in the cutoff. "Raise," Diego Gomez Gonzalez said with gusto when action reached him in the small blind. He then made it 162,000 to go, both his opponents called, and it was three-way action to the {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop.

The bespectacled Gonzalez wasted little time in firing out a bet of 188,000, Warrington folded, and Plauski made the call. "All in," Gonzalez loudly announced after the dealer had burned and turned the {J-Spades}. This time it was enough as Plauski send his cards to the muck.

Dany Parlafes Eliminated in 15th Place (€29,000)

Dany Parlafes
Dany Parlafes

Dany Parlafes has just been sent to the rail in 15th place after losing a huge coinflip with Sotirios Koutoupas.

Parlafes was under the gun and he raised to 50,000. To his immediate left was Koutoupas and he three-bet to 125,000. Koutoupas has been playing tightly and his rare three-bet forced folds from everyone at the table except Parlafes who went deep into the tank.

Parlafes stayed in the tank for almost 90 seconds before moving all-in for 958,000. Koutoupas called and put his Romanian opponent at risk.

Koutoupas: {A-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Parlafes: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop was safe for Parlafes' queens, as was the {6-Clubs} turn. The {k-Diamonds} river certainly wasn't safe because it improved Koutoupas to a hand-winning pair of king and eliminated Parlafes.

Berggren C-Bet Takes Down Pot

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Sotirios Koutoupas was first to act on the button and he wasted no time in opening to 50,000. Sweden's Andreas Berggren was in the small blind and he three-bet, a bet that was called.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Berggren lead out with a 157,000 bet into the 330,000 pot and after a little "Hollywooding" Koutoupas folded.

Petrov Momentarily Cracks Aces

We've already seen two outers hit on the river in pots today (i.e. Mads Amot's elimination), and it just happened again.

The hand began when Mikhail Petrov opened for 64,000 from the cutoff and Sergey Kuzminskiy flatted from the button. Both blinds folded and the flop fell {J-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, which is when action really picked up. It started when Petrov led out for 78,000, Kuzminskiy raised to 170,000, and Petrov three-bet to 335,000. Kuzminskiy responded by moving all in for 1.105 million and Petrov snap-called.

Showdown
Kuzminskiy: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Petrov: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Kuzminskiy thought is aces were good, but he soon discovered they'd been cracked by Petrov's set of jacks. The {9-Diamonds} turn meant Kuzminskiy needed an ace on the river to stay alive, and wouldn't you know it, the {A-Spades} slammed down.

The spectators erupted in disbelief and Kuzminskiy let a big smile cross his face.

Marco Leonzio Eliminated In 14th Place (€34,000)

Marco Leonzio - 14th
Marco Leonzio - 14th

We missed the exact action, though we did hear Sotirios Koutoupas had flatted preflop from the big blind, but we do know that Marco Leonzio was just eliminated after getting his last 590,000 all in holding {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} on a {J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} flop. Unfortunately for him, Koutoupas held {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} for top set.

Leonzio was in bad shape, though the {10-Spades} turn did give him some hope as either a nine or ace would give him a straight. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {8-Diamonds}, the last card Leonzio would see in the 2012 PokerStars.net EPT Prague Main Event.
