Kitai Falls to Lichtenberger

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We arrived at the table in time to find Davidi Kitai all in and at risk before the flop against Andrew Lichtenberger. Kitai held {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and was leading against Lichtenberger's {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. After five community cards, however, Kitai made his way to the rail, as the {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{6-Clubs} run out paired Lichtenberger's ace. Lichtenberger dragged in the pot and now has about 40,000 in chips.

Negreanu Returns

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

"Hey buddy! I'm back! Where do I go?"

The voice of the aforementioned quote was one everyone in the tournament area recognized as it belonged to none other than Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu, who just hours earlier gave a dramatic exit from the tournament where he essentially gave away his chips, has decided to re-enter and give this tournament another go. Upon entering the tournament room, Negreanu strode over to the very tournament director who he argued with earlier, gave him a big hug, and collected his 50,000 in starting chips.

Vandersmissen opted to check, and Piqué took this as an opportunity to pounce with a bet of 7,500. Vandersmissen folded, and Piqué won the pot.

Smith KO's Kaverman

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Dan Smith raised to 5,100 from late position and it folded to Byron Kaverman in the small blind. Kaverman cut out a three-bet to 11,900 and Smith went into the tank. He eventually opted to ship all in which was actually a bet for Kaverman's tournament life. Kaverman called and found out that he was crushed.

Kaverman: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Smith: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

The board fell {2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Kaverman was sent packing. Smith dragged in the pot and built his stack to around 108,000.

Piqué Gets the Finger

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

On the {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop, Martin Finger checked to Gerard Piqué. Piqué bet 4,300, and Finger made the call. Then, the {J-Hearts} paired the board on the turn, and Finger check-called a bet of 11,000 from Piqué. The {6-Hearts} was the river card, and Finger checked a third time. Piqué bet 21,000, and Finger called quickly.

Piqué showed a busted straight draw with the {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and Finger showed the {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for trip jacks to scoop the pot.

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier checked the {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, and Jason Lavallee bet 3,400. Nadar Kakhmazov called, then Mercier check-raised to 8,700. Lavallee folded, but Kakhmazov called.

The turn was the {A-Hearts}, and Mercier bet 9,100 with about 20,000 behind. Kakhmazov raised enough to put Mercier all in, and Mercier quickly folded his hand.
