Moreno's Bluff Fails Against Vojvoda

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

From early position, Michel Pecheux opened with a raise to 6,000. Action folded to Mario Vojvoda in the small blind, and he called. Then, Andrew Moreno called from the big blind, and the three players saw the flop come down {8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}. After Vojvoda and Moreno checked, Pecheux bet 8,600. Vojvoda called, then Moreno also came along.

Fourth street produced the {7-Diamonds}, and Vojvoda checked. Moreno checked over to Pecheux for the second street in a row, but this time Pecheux opted to check behind and let a free river card be seen.

The dealer put out the {6-Spades} on fifth street, and Vojvoda led with a bet of 21,100. Moreno put in a raise to 66,500, and that folded out Pecheux. Vojvoda would only have a few thousand chips left if he were to call and lose, and he mulled hard over his decision. Then, he called.

Moreno showed the {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a pair of sevens. Vojvoda had the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for a straight, and he was awarded the pot to move to roughly 185,000 in chips. Moreno was nipped back to 120,000.

Di Cicco Catches an Ace on the River to Stay Alive

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Jamila Von Perger, one of a handful of women remaining in the field, opened for 6,500 from the cutoff only to have Massimo Di Cicco three-bet all in for 65,900 from the button. The blinds both folded and Von Perger thought long and hard before making the call.

Di Cicco: {a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
Von Perger: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Di Cicco got it in good, but the {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop gave the lady a pair of queens. The {8-Diamonds} turn meant Di Cicco needed either a deuce or ace on the river, and he found the latter as the {A-Diamonds} spiked to extend his tournament life.

Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Captures Second Women’s Event Title

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Hana Soljan
Hana Soljan

On the last day of August, Event #2 €330 Women’s Event at the EPT Barcelona saw Croatian Full Tilt Poker Ambassador Hana Soljan top a 86-player field to capture the €6,880 first-place prize. The win marked the second Women’s Event title for Soljan, who studied Entrepreneurial Management at the University of Applied Scienes, after she won the EPT Prague version back in 2010 after beating out 25 others for the €3,750 prize.

Interestingly, Soljan used to be a houseguest on the Croatian version of Big Brother, though she was evicted after 48 days.

"I don't think there's any advantage to being a woman at the table," Soljan previously told the PokerStars Blog. "I prefer to play against men though as I think I can read them better. But I don't think men underestimate woman, they just don't like to lose to a woman!"

Paloniemi Doubles Through Kroon

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Jukka Paloniemi was all in for 36,400 with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} against the {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} of Oscar Kroon. On the flop, the {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} fell and kept Kroon's queens in the lead. The turn was the {J-Clubs}, and now Paloniemi needed a non-club ace, king, or queen on the river to double up.

Thanks to the {K-Diamonds}, Paloniemi hit one of the cards he needed and doubled through.

Tinlin Falls to Kroon

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Rory Tinlin was all in before the flop for his last roughly 45,000 against Oscar Kroon. Tinlin tabled {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and hoped to improve for his tournament life against Kroon's already made hand of {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The board fell {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}, allowing Tinlin to pair six, but still keeping him from besting the pocket queens of Kroon. Tinlin made a quick exit from the tournament floor and Kroon stacked his new chips. His stack now sits around 285,000.

Pre Flop Action on Table One

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

In a sharp contrast to the end of play yesterday, the start of day 3 in the tournament room is almost silent apart from the riffling of chips, as the players settle into their new tables and try to work out their opponents. PokerNews followed some early hands from table one which includes Victor Ramdin, Dmitry Yurasov, and the short stack at the table Ramsey Khoury.

Ramdin opened for 6,300 from under the gun and was raised by Cristinel Sandu to 16,500. That was enough to win the pot without further resistance. Next hand Imed Ben Mahmoud opened for 6,300 and Khoury moved all in for his last 60,000 chips. Back to Mahmoud who made a fairly quick fold. Ramdin again opened for 6,300, this time getting three bet by Cristinel Sandu to 17,500, again Ramdin folded. Yurasov, the big stack at the table with 377,800 was next to open for 6,000 and it folded to Khoury who again moved all in. Back to Yurasov who asked for a count and seemed to be considering a gamble, but decided against giving the short stack a chance to double and folded.

Adinolfi Exposes His Hand

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

We arrived to catch the aftermath of a rather interesting hand between Grudi Hristov Grudev and Mario Adinolfi that amounting in over a 100,000-chip pot.

Having the action recapped to us, we understand that after a series of raises before the flop, both players saw {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{J-Diamonds} hit the felt. Grudev led into the pot and Adinolfi moved all in over the top. At the moment that the all in bet was announced, Adinolfi instantly rolled over his hand to reveal {J-Hearts}7c} for top two pair. The floor was called over to observe the rest of the hand that would play out with Adinolfi's cards exposed. What made the moment tense, however, was the Grudev went into the tank. Despite knowing that his opponent held top two, Grudev seemed to find himself with a decision. A few moments passed while the table and spectators awaited Grudev's decion.

Eventually, he opted to lay the hand down to Adinolfi's two pair and Adinolfi was pushed the pot. Adinolfi now has about 194,000 while Grudve has dropped to 385,000.

Where Are They Now: Season 8 EPT Barcelona Champ Martin Schleich

Season 8 EPT Barcelona champ Martin Schleich
Season 8 EPT Barcelona champ Martin Schleich

Two years ago, all eyes were on Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov at the EPT Barcelona final table as he looked to achieve poker’s prestigious Triple Crown, which is comprised of wins on the WPT, WSOP and EPT. Instead, it was a then 29-year-old German by the name of Martin Schleich who topped the 811-player field to win the $1,224,572 first-place prize.

It was one of the most memorable three-handed battles in recent EPT memory as Katchalov, Schleich and Dragan Kostic exchanged the chip lead back and forth over more than four hours of play. Eventually, Katchalov was felled in third place when he three-bet shoved his 15 big blinds with the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} only to win into the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts} of Schleich. The nines held and Katchalov had to settled for €315,000. An hour later, Kostic fell in second place for €532,000 and left Schleich as the last man standing.

Schleich, who worked in customer service at the time of his win, began playing no-limit cash games back in 2006 but eventually decided to play more tournaments. The decision obviously paid off with his EPT Barcelona win, but since then things have been pretty quiet for the German, who has just one cash over the last two years – 22nd in the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $2,000 No Limit Hold’em Leaderboard Event for $6,410.
