Kaufmann Eliminated in Huge Three-Way Pot

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Florian-Dimitrie Duta stays alive.
Florian-Dimitrie Duta stays alive.

In the last hand before the break, a huge three-way pot took place at the feature table.

It began with Florian-Dimitrie Duta raising from the cutoff and Thomas Butzhammer three-betting him from the button. David Kaufmann then cold four-bet to 139,000 from the big blind, and Duta shoved for 431,000. Butzhammer, who had the biggest stack, thought for a bit before moving all in over the top, and Kaufman sort of shrugged before calling off for 637,000.

Duta: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Kaufmann: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Butzhammer: {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Buthammer was out in front, but Kaufmann was drawing to two overs. Duta, on the other hand, was in need of some major help. The {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop provided a little as Duta picked up a gutshot straight draw to a seven, but as it was Butzhammer's jacks were still in the lead.

They stayed there on the {4-Clubs}, and Butzhammer was one card away from scoring a double elimination. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't seal the deal as the {7-Diamonds} spiked on the river to give Duta the improbable straight and the triple to 1.315 million.

Meanwhile, Butzhammer took down the 412,000 side pot and a disappointed Kaufmann was dispatched in 42nd place.

Plenty of Outs for Pecheux

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Michel Pecheux moved all in for his last 188,000 and having asked for a count Martin Staszko made th call with {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Good call as Pecheux tabled {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} but there was a sweat on the flop of {7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs} giving the at risk player a flush and a gut shot straight draw. Last two cards no help though {3-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}. Pecheux was eliminated just before the break.

Fours Save Covyn

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Luca Fiorini moved all in from the small blind and Danny Covyn called with the short stack and showed {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Fiorini tabled {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}. Covyn was out of his seat and being cheered on by his enthusiastic rail nearby. The dealer dealt {9-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and the baby pair held to give a ray of hope to Covyn.

A couple of hands later Covyn was using those newly acquired chips to open from late position and getting one caller in the big blind. Checked back to him on a flop of {3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Hearts} he bet 40,000. Facing a check raise to 120,000 Covyn decided to hold on to his chips and folded.

No Repeat EPT Champ

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Dimitar Danchev
Dimitar Danchev

Unfortunately we missed the hand, but we can confirm that Dimitar Danchev, the last former EPT champ in the field, has been eliminated. If you recall, Danchev won the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event back in January for $1,859,000.

That means the streak of not having a two-time EPT winner will continue further into Season 10.

De Meulder Calls for His Life with AK

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

On the feature table David Kaufmann moved all in and was called by Christophe De Meulder. Kaufmann had {A-Spades}{q-Hearts} but had run into the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} of De Meulder. The board ran out {3-Hearts}{j-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Kaufmann took a big hit to his stack.

Dejan gives Watson a Spin to Bust Him

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Mike Watson pushed all in for his last few chips and Dikovic Dejan, a big stack in the big blind called him off with {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Watson had {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and a final board of {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Clubs} sent the unlucky Watson home.

Clubbing with Tom Middleton

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Julian Thomas opened under the gun for 50,000 and got a call from Tom Middleton in the big blind. They saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and they both checked. The turn card came {5-Clubs} and again the two players checked. When the dealer dealt a {7-Clubs} Middleton decided to ask Thomas a serious question and bet 150,000. Thomas took a long time to decide. Middleton either had it or he didn’t. Either way the bet worked and Thomas couldn’t bring himself to pay the price to see.

Onuchin Done in by Pocket Rockets

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The preflop specific escaped us, but we don know that Yakov Onuchin got his 307,000 stack all in holding the {a-Spades}{q-Spades} only to run into the {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} of Kimmo Kurko.

It was a tough spot for Onuchin, though the {10-Spades}{k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop did give him a gutshot draw to a jack. The {Q-Clubs} turn actually made it so a jack would result in a chop, but Onuchin could still catch a queen to win. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {A-Clubs}. The case ace improved Kurko to a full house, which sent Onuchin to the rail.
