Sternheimer Busts Yong

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Richard Yong
Richard Yong

Richard Yong has busted at the hands of Philip Sternheimer. According to Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier, here's what happened.

Jeff Rossiter raised from under the gun, Sternheimer called from the next seat, and Yong called from the big blind. The flop came down {5-}{3-}{2-} with two spades, and Yong checked. Rossiter bet 9,500, and Sternheimer called. Yong check-raised to 30,000, then Rossiter folded. Sternheimer called.

The turn was an offsuit {4-}, and Yong bet 60,000. Sternheimer raised to 131,000, and Yong tank-shoved. Yong was all in for right around 200,000, and Sternheimer quickly made the call.

Sternheimer had turned a straight with pocket sixes while Yong had flopped a set of threes. The river didn't pair the board in Yong's favor when a {Q-} fell, and he was eliminated.

Immediately, Yong wanted to re-enter and was waving his credit card around in the air in his seat, wanting to re-enter into the same seat. Unfortunately for him, he had to go over to the registration desk, re-enter for another €50,000, and was awarded a new seat, not the same one he busted from. Meanwhile, Sternheimer collected the pot and moved to 585,000 in chips.

Chewy on That

Level 6 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

Erik Seidel isn’t having much luck with his min bets pre flop, and so he again faced a raise after opening to 3,000. This time it was Andrew Lichtenberger, Lucy Chewy online, who made it 7,500 from the cut off. Jean-Noel Thorel called from the button and the blinds and Seidel floded. They saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Lichtenberger continued for 15,000 getting a call from Thorel. The turn was the {2-Spades} and this time a bet of 42,000 was something Thorel was not prepared to swallow and he folded his cards.

Duhamel Doubles on the Feature Table

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

Over at the feature table, there was 114,600 in the pot and a board reading {2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} when Tobias Reinkemeier moved all in to put the pressure on Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel, who had 74,400 behind. The Canadian shrugged and dropped in his chips.

"You've got it," a sheepish Reinkemeier said. Given it was an all-in situation all cards had to be tabled. Reinkemeier then showed the {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}, which wasn't good enough to beat Duhamel's {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}.

Clash of Styles: Thorel Vs. McDonald.

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Mike McDonald
Mike McDonald

Mike McDonald got into a pre flop raising war with Jean-Noel Thorel and they were now looking at a flop of {3-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. Thorel, first to act, was shifting about in his seat, a mass of tics and twitches each as seemingly unreadable as the last. McDonald sat stock still, the Timex unflinching stare boring into Thorel’s soul. Thorel bet 51,000, McDonald stared some more and called. The turn was a {6-Clubs}. Thorel fidgeted some more but couldn’t find the bet. He checked and when McDonald bet 50,000 Thorel didn’t take too long to fold.

Small One for Gruissem

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

With 32,200 in the pot and a board reading {8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Philipp Gruissem bet 18,000 from early position and received a call from Daniel Negreanu on the button. After the {A-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Gruissem bet 35,000 and Negreanu double checked his cards before sending them to the muck.

Alaei Tank Calls

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

On a board of {4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} Jean-Noel Thorel, from the small blind, bet out for 10,500, Daniel Alaei called from the big blind and Andrew Lichtenberger from the button raised to 32,500. A frustrated Thorel folded and Alaei called. The river was the {5-Hearts} and when Alaei checked, Lichtenberger put out a bet of 42,000. Alaei thought for a long time and eventually seemed to make a crying call. He threw his cards away when Lichtenberger showed him {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

Schemion Takes from Finger

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Ole Schemion opened for 6,000 under the gun and received a call from Richard Yong in the cutoff. When action reached Martin Finger in the big blind, he three-bet to 24,000 and only Schemion made the call. When the flop came down {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, Finger bet 17,000 and Schemion called.

After the dealer burned and turned the {9-Hearts}, both players checked and the {Q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Finger tossed out a single pink T25,000 chip and Schemion took about 30 seconds before raising to 81,500. Finger spent several minutes in the tank before making the call, but mucked as soon as Schemion tabled the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for two pair.

As the hand played out, Philip Sternheimer opted to re-enter the tournament and was seated at the table.

Two for Timothy

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

Timothy Adams just moved back over 200,000 in chips to get to 220,000 after picking up a couple of pots. In both, he used aggressive play to take down the pots preflop.

On the first hand, four-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Daniel Alaei opened to 6,000, and EPT Season 4 German Open winner Mike McDonald called from the cutoff seat. Adams was in the small blind and reraised to 42,000. Everyone folded, and Adams won the pot.

The very next hand, Andrew Lichtenberger raised to 6,000 from under the gun. Jean-Noel Thorel called from the next seat, then play folded to Adams on the button. He reraised and made it 22,000 to go. The blinds, Lichtenberger, and Thorel all folded, giving Adams the pot.
