Helppi Yourself

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Just before the break, there was an open to 6,000 from under the gun on Table 15. Marc Witt called in middle position, Khiem Nguyen called in the cutoff, Juha Helppi called in the small blind, and the player in the big blind defended.

The flop fell {j-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Clubs}, and Helppi led out for 13,500. Only Witt called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, Helppi led out again - this time for 40,000 - and Witt tanked before grabbing enough blue T5,000 chips to make the call.

The {2-Spades} completed the board, and Helppi emptied the chamber, firing a third and final bullet worth 50,000. Witt tanked for several minutes, then stood up to spread the pot. The dealer tried to stop Witt, but it was too late. The German had already grabbed a large portion of the chips and moved them around.

He then returned to his chair, tanked for a little bit longer, and called. Helppi ripped over {a-Spades}{j-Spades} for trip jacks, and Witt gave a thumbs up before mucking his cards.

Don't Call His Name, Don't Call His Name

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Alejandro Federico De Arruabarrena has just been knocked out. Tim Ulrich does not have a lot of chips but he did have the crippled De Arruabarrena covered by a huge margin. De Arruabarrena moved all in for just 1,500 and Johannes Toebbe made the call. Ulrich moved all in over the top and Toebbe folded.

Tim Ulrich: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Alejandro Federico De Arruabarrena: {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and De Arruabarrena was knocked out. Ulrich is still short and looking for a double up in order to keep his hopes alive.

The Unlucky Seat

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Calvin Anderson checked on a board of {6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and Bastian Winde Harbo tossed out 24,500. Anderson tank-called.

The river was the {a-Hearts}, Anderson checked, and Harbo wanted to bet, but he checked behind, showing {8-Spades}{5-Spades} for a straight.

Anderson quickly folded.

"This seat is unlucky," Harbo explained.

True enough, two players have busted in that seat. Both of them were busted by Aku Joentausta.

Jorgensen the Barer of Bad News for Ari

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Theo Jorgensen flopped almost as good as he could have done in the hand that he bust Ari Barer, and was very fortunate to do so.

Barer opened to 6,000 and then four-bet to 30,800 after the Team Pro three-bet to 15,000. Jorgensen called to see the {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop where he raised Barer's 23,900 c-bet up to 50,000. Barer shoved for 120,000 and Jorgensen called quickly.

Barer: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Jorgensen: {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for instant flush service. Barer took the beat with grace and left the room.

Erik van den Berg on Day 2
Erik van den Berg on Day 2

The money bubble is rapidly approaching and we just got a little closer after Erik van den Berg was eliminated. Thomas Julian-Simon raised to 7,000 from the cutoff after which Van den Berg moved all in for 65,300 from the button. Alejandro Federico De Arruabarrena was seated in the small blind and he made the call. The action was back on Julian-Simon who decided to move all in. De Arruabarrena had to make a decision for 120,600 total which was just 2,000 less than what he had in front of him. Eventually he made the call creating a big three-way all in.

Alejandro Federico De Arruabarrena: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Erik van den Berg: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Thomas Julian-Simon: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Van den Berg was knocked out. De Arruabarrena was left behind with just 2,000 chips and he will be a long shot to finish in the money here in Berlin today.

Julian-Simon Says...Spike Two Eights

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Tim Ulrich was all in and at risk before the flop for his last 29,400. Ulrich held {J-Clubs}{8-Spades} and was absolutely crushed by Thomas Julian-Simon's {K-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}.

The dealer spread out a flop of {4-Spades}{A-Hearts}{A-Spades}.

"Good game," said Ulrich, standing up from the table.

He paired up on the turn when the {8-Clubs} hit.

"You've got an eight," said Julian-Simon to his opponent who was already prepping to walk away from the table.

As if the deck heard Julian-Simon, the {8-Diamonds} ripped off on the river, giving Ulrich eights full of aces and the best hand.

"Wow!" exclaimed Ulrich. "I've never seen something like that!"

Ulrich sat down and stacked his newly attained chips. He's now sitting around 65,000.
