Marc Inizan made a deep run at last season's EPT Deauville, busting in 21st position There will be no repeat of that this season after he was eliminated.
He was in the big blind and three-bet shoved for 12,000 after Anthony Picault opened from the button. Call.
Gaelle Baumann may have been the last woman standing at this year's World Series of Poker main event, but she will not repeat that feat here in Deauville as she has just been eliminated.
We arrive at Baumann's table to see the board reading , Remi Le Meur sat with a pair of kings in front of him and Baumann standing from her chair and gathering her belongings. Baumann held for those of you who are interested.
According to the table chatter, it appears Steve O'Dwyer opened, Le Meur three-bet, another player cold-called and Baumann shoved. O'Dwyer folded and Le Meur re-shoved. Le Meur's kings held and he is now among the chip leaders, while everyone else — read that as the men here — will have moist eyes at the prospect of not seeing Baumann until the next major poker event.
Paul Guichard opened to 4,500 preflop before Marvin Rettenmaier moved all in for 27,600. In the next seat Arnaud Mattern made the call and it was passed around to Guichard who moved all in himself for 82,000.
Mattern tanked for about five minutes before eventually folding what he'd later say was queens.
Guichard:
Rettenmaier:
The board ran out and the German, who has been in incredible form, was eliminated.
A short-stacked Steve O'Dwyer just found himself all-in and at risk of elimination, but then ran into the same hand and split the pot.
O'Dwyer opened to 3,800 from under the gun and after two players folded, Sergey Baburin three-bet to 8,500 and Gilbert Merheb, to Baburin's immediate left cold called. With the action back on O'Dwyer, he moved all in and after Baburin re-shoved, Merheb folded.
O'Dwyer:
Baburin:
After the excitement of the preflop action, the rest of the hand was a damp squib by comparison. The final board read was void of drama and the pot split between the two active players.
Konstantinos Nanos just found himself in a blind-vs.-blind battle against Said Basri which saw Nanos committing his entire stack against his opponent. Good timing for Nanos, though, as he'd woken up with while Basri had .
The board rolled out , and Nanos survived with a double-up.
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier's EPT Deauville Main Event run has come to an end. After having begun Day 2 with a healthy stack, Grospellier's slide began early and continued throughout the first three levels.
The end came swiftly, as communicated by Grospellier himself in 140 characters or less:
I 3-bet shove my 10 blinds from BB and opener asked how much before calling with KK lol. Obv no justice in this world… #GG #EPTDeauvilleFebruary 05 2013
David Stephany opened to 2,500 preflop before Kaspars Renga moved all in for 10,000. Patrick Schuhl flat-called before Jason Koon made it 23,500, Stephany folded but Schuhl called.
The flop was and Koon led out for 20,000 - Schuhl folded instantly.
Koon then declared he hadn't seen Stephany's initial raise and he never would've four-bet otherwise as he turned over . Renga's suddenly looked good but after the turn the river was the .
The Latvian banged his hand on the tabel and left as Koon hit the 200,000 mark.
