Three players had built a pot of about 17,000 before the flop, including Daniel Ospina and Fabrice Soulier. The flop came , and when it checked around to Soulier the Frenchman bet 6,400, chasing the player playing from the blinds.
Ospina then raised his remaining short stack all in, and Soulier instantly called. Ospina tabled his , then nodded as he saw Soulier's .
"Good hand," said Ospina as the turn brought the and river the .
Sam Grafton has doubled up and then some after he first three-bet against an UTG raiser holding jacks. Grafton was all in on the turn of a Q-7-4-6 and doubled when the river bricked.
Soon after the Englishman won a second big pot betting 5,100, 9,700 and 27,800 on the flop, turn and river of a J-T-6-J-2 board with A-J and getting paid on every street.
There's always that sinking feeling in one's stomach when you see an opponent flop a set with an under pair. This happened to Kristijonas Andrulis but luckily for him there was a present on the flop for him too, and that made him smile.
Roman Korenev opened to 2,400 from mid position before Andrulis three-bet to 5,000 from the small blind. Korenev shoved and Andrulis snap-called all in.
Alex Goulder has just helped himself to a decent pot in a clash with Joseph El Khoury.
El Khoury raised to 2,400 from the hijack seat and then called as Goulder three-bet from the small blind. Goulder then lead for 7,000 on a flop and El Khoury called. The turn witnessed an increased bet of 14,500 from Goulder and another call from El Khoury. But when the river paired the board and put four clubs out there, both players checked.
El Khoury:
Goulder:
Goulder won with a straight, though not before the dealer tried to muck his hand! Upon realising his error, the dealer pushed the pot to the young Brit.
Feargal Nealon had raised preflop to 2,600 before Sandy Denis moved all in behind him for about 26,000. Nealon made a quick call for his stack and they were off to the races.
Nealon:
Denis:
Board: and Denis made a straight leaving Nealon with just 1,200 chips left.
The Irishman was all in the next hand with but found himself up against another player's which made two pair to eliminate him.
Johan Guilbert is one of the, how shall we say it, eccentric players still in this tournament although he is rather short stacked.
Just now, Shahaf Hadaya opened to 2,500 from middle position and the action passed around to Guilbert who was in the cutoff. Guilbert, who has the majority of his face covered by a huge pair of skiing goggles, moved all in for 17,700 in total. Hadaya looked like he was shaping to call, but he just could not pull the trigger.
Eric Vancraywinkel opened for 2,600 from middle position and two players called — Vanessa Rousso (small blind) and Francois Scapula (big blind). All three checked the flop. The turn then brought the and a bet of 3,300 from Rousso, called by both Scapula and Vancraywinkel.
The river was the . Rousso fired again, this time for 6,600, then watched as Scapula raised to 14,000, then Vancraywinkel just called. At that the Team PokerStars Pro leaned forward.
"I seriously thought I had the best hand," she said as a prelude to further study. Finally she let her hand go, showing the as she did.
Scapula showed — he'd bluff-raised with ace-high. Then Vancraywinkel turned over — he'd flopped a flush draw and gutshot, and the straight had filled on the river.
Rousso exhaled with relief. "Once he called I thought there was no way I was good," she said with reference to Vancraywinkel. "You were trying to get my chips in there, too," she added, referring to his call. He shrugged in response. "I tried," he grinned.
Paul Tedeschi is an up and coming French player who's had a lot of good results in the last 18 months, the best being a 6th place finish at last year's WSOPE. That netted him €149,184 but he has a lot of work to do if he's to earn anywhere near that this week.
He's down to 29,000 chips after he doubled up Magali Incandela. The French lady, who seems to have sacrificed a lot of animals in the making of her wardrobe, three-bet all in for 14,100 after Tedeschi raised. Tedeschi called and the cards were flipped up.
Tedeschi:
Incandela:
The board ran .
Incandela slammed her winning hand down in front of the dealer to leave herself the space to aggressively drag the pot towards her.
Ignat "0human" Liviu, a regular in the high stakes cash games on PokerStars, has just been eliminated over on Table 31.
Liviu open-shoved for just 3,300 from UTG+1 and he received an unintentional call from Fabio Sperling, who wanted to raise but didn't put enough chips in to constitute one so was forced to call. To Sperling's immediate left was Said Basri and he called, but both players folded when Anaras Alekberovas raised to 9,800 from the small blind.
Alekberovas:
Liviu:
Liviu's exit was essentially over when the flop came into view and was confirmed when the fell on the turn. The meaningless was the river card and EPT Deauville lost another big name player.
