Change of Plans

Level 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Initially it was planned to play a maximum of 10 levels for Day 2, however tournament staff has just confirmed that action won't stop at the end of level 18 but continue until the final table of the last eight has been reached.

Holz Takes from Adams

Level 18 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

In a hand that lasted several minutes into the new level, Fedor Holz raised to 90,000 from the button and Timothy Adams called in the big blind. On the {J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop, Adams check-called a bet worth 85,000 and then bet the {2-Clubs} turn for 260,000. Holz called and the {6-Clubs} river paired the board, but also provided a fourth club.

Adams checked, Holz carefully cut out a bet and made it 440,000 to go. Adams eventually called, Holz showed {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for the nut flush to scoop the pot and increase his stack.

Limp Push

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

From middle position, Manuchehr Khangah limped in. Small blind Julian Stuer completed and big blind Erik Seidel raised to 190,000 with 1,840,000 behind. Khangah folded almost immediately.

While Seidel might have thought that was about the end it, he was in for a surprise. Stuer didn't waste much time pushing all in and Seidel folded after about a minute or so in the tank.

Adams Scores Big Double Through Mateos

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Adrian Mateos raised to 80,000 from early position and Timothy Adams called in the small blind, as did John Juanda in the big blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Adams checked, as did Juanda. Mateos continued for 160,000 and Adams called, Juanda folded.

On the {A-Clubs} turn, Adams checked, Mateos bet 550,000 and Adams called.

The {4-Clubs} appeared on the river and Adams checked for a third time. Mateos announced all in and Adams quickly called, then turned over the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} for a set of tens. Mateos let out a huge sigh, flashed {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and lost a big portion of his stack.

Holz Doing Some Work

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Fedor Holz raised to 95,000 from the button and Timothy Adams called in the big blind. On the {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop, Adams checked and called a continuation bet worth 80,000 by Holz. On the {A-Spades} turn, Adams checked for a second time. Holz now bet 160,000 and that claimed the pot without further resistance.

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

From early position, Alexandros Kolonias pushed all in for his last remaining 210,000. Daniel Dvoress in the hijack seemed interested and called, all other players folded.

Alexandros Kolonias: {A-Spades}{2-Spades}
Daniel Dvoress: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and Kolonias doubles up.

Igor Kurganov Eliminated in 16th Place

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Sylvain Loosli raised to 90,000 from early position and the action reached Igor Kurganov, who shoved for 270,000 from the button. The players in the blinds got out of the way, and Loosli then quickly called.

Kurganov: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Loosli: {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Kurganov needed to avoid an ace or hearts, but instead the {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop left his heart with little hope. The {K-Hearts} turn changed nothing and the {6-Hearts} river even completed the nut flush for Loosli, sending Kurganov to the rail in 16th place.

Mateos Calls the Clock; Greenwood Shoves

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Adrian Mateos raised to 80,000 from under the gun and John Juanda called on the button. In the big blind, Sam Greenwood took some time to make up his mind and Mateos called the clock on him. The floor staff arrived, and at that very second Greenwood moved all in. Mateos quickly folded, but Juanda asked for a count.

Greenwood was all in for 805,000, and that proved to be too much for Juanda, who folded.
