Peters Wins Small Pot Against Brito

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From early position, Fernando Brito raised to 15,000 and David Peters defended his big blind after asking his opponent for the stack before the start of the hand. "Around 250,000," Brito replied and they headed to the flop {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Both checked and Peters then check-called a small continuation bet worth 12,000 on the {K-Clubs} turn.

Brito checked behind the {K-Diamonds} river and the {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} of Peters were enough to scoop the pot.

Palumbo Busts Delfoco

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Francesco Delfoco
Francesco Delfoco

Francesco Delfoco bought in before the start of Day 2 but only showed up half an hour into the first level. Around 25 minutes later his stack had vanished and fellow Italian Rocco Palumbo received the add on to his stack. Picking up the action on the {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop, Palumbo checked in the hijack and Delfoco bet 75,000 in the cutoff.

Palumbo shoved and Delfoco called it off with the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the nut flush draw, whereas Palumbo had {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for top set. Both the {A-Spades} turn and {9-Spades} river bricked and that was it for Delfoco.

Two Pair for Both

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Under the gun, Anton Bertilsson raised to 12,000. His next door neighbor Andrew Lichtenberger made the call, button Keith Johnson came along and so did Jeff Rossiter from the big blind.

Rossiter checked on {7-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Bertilsson bet 25,000. Lichtenberger folded, Johnson called, Rossiter folded so it was heads up to the turn. Bertilsson fired another 61,000 on the {J-Clubs} and once again it was Johnson the one calling.

The {5-Clubs} completed the board and Bertilsson checked. Johnson thought about it for a bit, and eventually somewhat reluctantly checked behind. Bertilsson showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for the turned two pair, but he was beat as Johnson tabled {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} for the flopped top two.

Charania Busts

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Mohsin Charania moved all-in for his remaining 46,000 chips from under the gun, and it seemed like it would get through, that was until Winfred Yu put a few moments thought into it before making the call from the big blind.

Yu: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Charania: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The race seemed to be over with a king in the window, but the {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} was probably not the king-high flop Charania was looking for. The turn was the safe {q-Clubs} but the {3-Diamonds} on the river sent Charania to the rail and boosted Winfred Yu's stack

Mercier's Four-Bet Gets Through

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Sam Chartier to opened to 14,000 under the gun and was three-bet by Sam Winter in the small blind to 40,000. Jason Mercier, who finished day one with just over double starting stack promptly put out a four-bet to 75,000 which forced both other players out of the pot

Thorel Busts to Bertilsson

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

The rich get richer. Chip leader Anton Bertilsson was the initial raiser from under the gun and Jean-Noel Thorel committed his stack with the {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} from middle position. Bertilsson quickly called with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and held up with the board coming at a blank {7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades}{A-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

Kornuth Busts Kempe

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Chance Kornuth opened under the gun for 15,000 and Keith Johnson made the call. Rainer Kempe, already short with just about 61,000, squeezed all in and action folded around to Kornuth. Kornuth asked to see how much Johnson was playing, and then moved in over the top. Johnson folded just about right away.

Rainer Kempe: {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Chance Kornuth: {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

The flop came {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, leaving Kempe just about drawing dead. The {9-Hearts} on the turn really sealed the deal and the {8-Clubs} on the river was of no importance anymore.

"If I had known this to be the flop, I would have just called" Kornuth laughed to Johnson, while Kempe gathered his things and made his exit.

Kurganov Busts Greenwood

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

The full betting action until the river of a board {9-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{J-Hearts} is unknown, but Sam Greenwood bet 46,000 out of the big blind with a pot slightly bigger than that. Igor Kurganov raised to leave himself only 3,000 chips behind, but it was already enough to put Greenwood all in.

The Canadian tanked for two minutes and eventually called it off, then mucking when Kurganov flashed his {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a flush. Greenwood did show his {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for the turned straight before leaving the tournament area.

Jacobson Shoves into Drinan

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

After an open-raise, Martin Jacobson flat-called in the small blind and Connor Drinan then three-bet to 56,000 out of the big blind. The initial raiser folded, but Jacobson moved all in to send Drinan into the think tank. The American eventually asked to pull his raising chips in and it was 177,000 more on top.

Time was called and the one minute ran down without Drinan making any decision to see his hand mucked.
