Mateos Doubles Meylan

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Adrian Mateos (cutoff) and Alexandre Meylan (big blind) got their chips in the middle before the flop, with the latter being at risk for 321,000 total.

Mateos had the {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and would hit a ten, but it wouldn't be enough to bust Meylan who had {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. The board came {3-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Mateos parted ways with a good portion of his chips.

Margereson Eliminated

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Scott Margereson pushed his last 278,000 over the line holding {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Christopher Kruk looked him up with the {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and would out flop his opponent on {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn was a blank, and the {Q-Hearts} on the river certainly didn't help Margereson enough to stay alive.

Williams Cut In Half

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Frank Williams
Frank Williams

Frank Williams opened to 35,000 and Tomas MacNamara bumped it to 85,000.

Williams called and the two went heads up to a {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop. Both players checked to the {6-Clubs} turn where Williams led for 92,000. MacNamara called and on the {2-Clubs} river, Williams bet a healthy 285,000.

MacNamara made the call and after Williams showed the {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, MacNamara turned over the {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, taking down the pot with the kicker playing.

Slight Change of Plan

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The structure sheet told us the plan for the day would be to play down to 16 players, or till the end of level 24. That has changed, the plan right now is to play till the end of level 24 regardless.

Bernardo Dias Eliminated

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Bernardo Dias
Bernardo Dias

Over on the feature table, Bernardo Dias ended up all in before the flop for what appeared 240,000. He got called in two spots; both Mikhail Petrov and Christopher Kruk called.

Petrov and Kruk checked on {6-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and the {6-Hearts} fell on the turn. Petrov checked, and called the 225,000 bet that followed. The river {3-Clubs} had both players check again and Petrov showed the winning {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Kruk had {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Dias had risked his tournament life with the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}.

Williams' Bluff Fails

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

From first position, Frank Williams made it 35,000 to go. Both Patrick Clarke (button) and Ivan Banic (big blind) called. The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Banic checked. Williams made a bet of 62,000 and both Clarke and Banic called.

All three of them checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn and the {6-Hearts} completed the river. Banic checked again and Williams bet 180,000. Clarke thought about it for a bit before he called. Banic folded.

Williams showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Clarke took it down after tabling {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Goulder Empties the Clip

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

From middle position, Luca Pagano raised to 27,000. Alex Goulder in the small blind made it 81,000 to go and Alexandre Meylan cold called from the big blind. Pagano tanked long and hard before he eventually folded.

Goulder bet 115,000 on {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Meylan called. Meylan called another 200,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn and the {K-Hearts} completed the board. Goulder shoved all in, effectively betting 440,000 to Meylan. Meylan wasn't up for it and folded after about a minute in the tank.

Frank Williams: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Cathal Shine: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Shine made his exit.
