Imad Derwiche Eliminated in 8th Place (€147,710)

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Imad Derwiche
Imad Derwiche

Imad Derwiche opened to 125,000 from the cutoff and then folded to a shove by Alexandros Kolonias from one seat over, leaving himself even shorter. One hand later, Anthony Zinno raised to 100,000 and now it was Derwiche who jammed. All other opponents went out of the way and Zinno quickly called.

Derwiche: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Zinno: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

Derwiche initially just revealed the {J-Spades} and the dealer then turned over his second card to see the Frenchman and runner up of last year at risk in a coin flip. "I need you," Derwiche said and walked behind Zinno to watch the board unfold. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} and Zinno picked up an additional flush draw.

The {4-Hearts} turn was a blank, but the {A-Clubs} river gave Zinno the best hand and Derwiche an 8th place finish for a payday of €147,710.

Papazian Takes from Stern

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

While Imad Derwiche was standing up from his chair after having folded and seemingly trained for the next edition of "Let's Dance" in front of the rail, including mostly Brazilians as well as Charlie Carrel and Ben Heath, it was folded around to Zvi Stern. The November Niner raised to 95,000 from the button and Alexandru Papazian called in the big blind.

On the {K-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, Papazian checked and Stern continued for 80,000 to pick up a call by his opponent. On the {Q-Hearts} turn, it was once again checked to Stern and his second barrel worth 205,000 found yet another call. Both players then checked the {9-Clubs} river and Papazian turned over his {K-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for top pair.

Stern glanced at his cards again and sent them into the muck.

Ivan Deyra Eliminated in 10th Place (€103,570)

Ivan Deyra
Ivan Deyra

At the same time as the double up of Alexandru Papazian took place on the other table, Max Silver had raised to 85,000 and Ivan Deyra was in the small blind and gave it some thought.

"You better wait," Silver joked and once the double up was confirmed, Deyra pondered about his decision some more before clicking to 385,000 with around 300,000 behind.

Silver immediately moved all in and Deyra called it off only to see himself in bad shape.

Deyra: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Silver: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The flop came {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} and the French rail was demanding for a six, seven or deuce, Silver yawned. The huge sweat for Deyra ultimately blanked out, as the {Q-Clubs} turn and {A-Hearts} river changed nothing whatsoever. There is now a short break to redraw for the unofficial final table of the last nine!

Papazian Doubles Through Stern

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Zvi Stern raised to 85,000 and Alexandru Papazian moved all in from the button for 815,000. The action folded back to Stern, and he tanked for two minutes before making the call.

Papazian: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Stern: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out {3-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Papazian stayed alive with 10 players remaining in the High Roller.

Stern Catches Up with Maksoud

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Zvi Stern raised to 85,000 from the cutoff and [Removed:2] three-bet from his direct left to 215,000. Stern tanked for quite some time before calling, and the flop brought out {2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

Stern check-called 175,000 on the flop, and the turn brought the {J-Spades}. Both players checked on the turn, and the river was the {3-Diamonds}. This time both players checked, and Maksoud was visibly frustrated when Stern turned over {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for a pair of jacks.

"I knew you had that," Maksoud sighed, as Stern raked in another pot.
