Saout Doubles Through Tedeschi

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

We only caught the tail end of the hand, but table mate Jonathan Abdellatif informed us of some additional details.

Antoine Saout opened under the gun for 6,500 and Paul Tedeschi made the call in position. Another player over called and the flop came {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. Saout made a continuation bet and just Tedeschi made the call.

The {7-Clubs} fell on the turn and Saout now checked. Tedeschi bet 13,000 and Saout shoved for 90,000. Tedeschi called with {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and soon found out he was up against {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}. The {5-Spades} river was a blank and Saout doubled up.

Hoefer vs Aliyev

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Paul Hoefer raised from under the gun and found a caller in Kamran Aliyev in the big blind. Both players checked the {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop and Aliyev then check-called a bet worth 7,800 on the {8-Hearts} turn. After the dealer burned and turned the {5-Hearts} river, Aliyev checked as did the World Series of Poker bracelet winner Hoefer.

Aliyev's {J-Spades}{10-Spades} ended up second best to the {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} of the German.

Chidwick and Juanda Clash

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

It didn't take long for two of the top players in the field to clash. UK standout Stephen Chidwick and Poker Hall of Fame member John Juanda are seated next to each other, and the personal battle heated up in just the first minute of play.

The hand started with a Juanda under the gun raise that Chidwick defended in the big blind. Chidwick checked the {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, calling when Juanda continued for 8,000. Chidwick checked again on the {3-Diamonds} turn, but pulled out the old check-raise when Juanda fired 24,500 at the pot.

Chidwick made it a healthy 65,000, and after counting out his remaining chips, Juanda folded, handing the first battle in this war to Chidwick.
