Twitch Hero Talbot Among Leaders as 44 Remain

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Parker Talbot
Parker Talbot

Day 3 of 2018 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague €5,300 Main Event wrapped up with only 44 players remaining out of the field of 1,174, and a hero of poker Twitch finds himself squarely in the hunt for the title.

Canadian online grinder Parker Talbot sits in fourth place after bagging 1,690,000 following five 90-minute levels of Day 3 play. Talbot is known as "tonkaaaap" to his legions of followers — has nearly 100,000 — on Twitch, where he streams online tournament for typically five days per week.

On the live felt, Talbot makes himself fairly scarce in the North American scene but he has still racked up about $440,000 in cashes.

Talbot's day got off to a dream start. After already coming in with a sizable chip stack, he was dealt aces early on and won a huge pot where he got paid off for large turn and river bets to move into the chip lead with 1.2 million at 2,500/5,000/5,000.

Still, Talbot had a tough seat with nosebleed participant Markus Durnegger on his left. Nonetheless, Talbot made it work a bit later when he got Durnegger for a huge pot by inducing a massive turn bet of 190,000, which Talbot called with pocket eights on a seven-high board. Durnegger opted to give it up on the river when checked to, moving Talbot past 1.5 million with plenty of time still remaining in the day.

When the dust eventually settled at day's end, Durnegger would not be among those bagging.

Leading the way among the remaining 44 players is Konstantin Farber, although only narrowly over Evangelos Bechrakis with 2 million to 1,941,000. The latter was also at Talbot's table throughout the entire day, and he was involved in plenty of huge pots.

Most notably, Bechrakis all but eliminated Patrik Antonius on a savage cooler that saw both players river flushes in a three-bet pot. Antonius had also flopped top pair of queens, and he raised the river for value only to get called by Bechrakis' king-high flush.

Evangelos Bechrakis
Bechrakis coolered Antonius in a decisive pot.

Left with crumbs, Antonius didn't survive much longer. He was joined at the payout desk by Juha Helppi, Jason Wheeler, Timothy Adams and Sylvain Loosli, among others.

Among those still in the hunt are former EPT champs Anton Wigg and Andrey Pateychuk, as well as high-stakes online grinder Liviu Ignat.

Those players and the rest still remaining will hit the felt once again at noon local time on Sunday starting with Level 21 (8,000/16,000/16,000). The plan will be to play down to 16 players. Come back to PokerNews to see who those 16 will be, starting at noon.

Sick Runout Sees Geraume Busted by Ruijs

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Joris Ruijs
Joris Ruijs

Eric Geraume was all in for what looked like a four-bet to 570,000 from under the gun and Joris Ruijs was in the tank. He decided he couldn't let it go and dropped in calling chips.

Eric Geraume: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Joris Ruijs: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The {k-Diamonds} in the window was bad news for Geraume but the {6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} that followed had him feeling good for a double. The {6-Spades} turn gave him a boat but left the door cracked for Ruijs if the river was a king. That's exactly what happened as the {k-Spades} arrived to give him kings full and draw some gasps from the players.

Bechrakis Coolers Antonius Before Break

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Patrik Antonius
Patrik Antonius

Evangelos Bechrakis opened under the gun to 20,000 and called a three-bet to 70,000 from Patrik Antonius in the cutoff. The flop came {6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Bechrakis check-called 60,000.

"Ace-king again?" he asked before calling.

"Maybe."

Both players checked the {6-Diamonds} turn and the {j-Spades} arrived on the river. Bechrakis bet 110,000 and Antonius raised to 360,000.

"I don't believe you," Bechrakis said, leaning forward with a smile. "Call."

Antonius tabled {q-Spades}{9-Spades} but was surprised to see {k-Spades}{8-Spades} for a higher flush.

"Good thing I didn't go all in," he said with a smile.

Players are on break for 20 minutes.

Ruijs Pulls Huge Bluff on Bedell

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Joris Ruijs
Joris Ruijs

Tom-Aksel Bedell raised to 23,000 from the hijack and was called by Joris Ruijs on the button.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, Bedell continued with a bet of 26,000 which Ruijs called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, Bedell fired another bet out, now for 85,000 and Ruijs quickly called.

The river completed the board with the {10-Hearts}, Bedell bet 90,000 this time and Ruijs glanced at Bedell before shoving while having Bedell covered. Bedell dived deep into the tank, counting his time bank cards.

While using four time bank cards, Bedell mumbled through his options: "I think it's a bluff..." and some more incomprehensible things before open-folding {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}.

"Show me them?" Bedell pleaded with Ruijs.

Ruijs hesitated for a few seconds, smiled and then showed {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for the bluff.

Bedell got up from his chair, amazed, hollered some phrases, and started pacing up and down next to the table for the next five minutes or so, trying to get rid of the emotions he was going through right now.

Talbot on Heaps

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Parker Talbot
Parker Talbot

Parker Talbot in the small blind and Amar Hadzic in early position built a pot of around 125,000 preflop and they both checked when {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs} hit. On the {6-Hearts} turn, Talbot bet big with 110,000 and Hadzic called. The river was a {4-Clubs} and Talbot tanked long enough to use an extension then bet 240,000.

Hadzic called fairly quickly but could not beat {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}.

Peters Doubles Through Blomqvist

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Tobias Peters
Tobias Peters

Niklas Blomqvist raised to 12,000 from the cutoff and Tobias Peters three-bet to 37,500 from the button. The blinds folded for Blomqvist to four-bet shove with the bigger stack. Peters snap-called for the 159,500 he had behind.

Tobias Peters: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Niklas Blomqvist: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for Peters to turn a higher pair with the queens. Peters just needed to avoid another heart on the river and that's just what he did to double up.

Day 3 of The EPT Main Event Starts at Noon

Tournament Room
Tournament Room

Welcome back to the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague and Day 3 of the €5,300 EPT Main Event here in the Hilton Prague. After two starting flights and Day 2, 137 surviving players out of 1,174 entries will return at noon to battle it out on the felt to see who will make it into Day 4. All returning players have already secured a cash of at least €9,790.

Natalie Teh claimed the chip lead last night with 786,000 but is closely followed by Parker Talbot who bagged 773,500 and Evangelos Bechrakis with 730,000. Actually, if you look at the seat draw, Teh and Bechrakis have been drawn on the same table, together with another top 5 chip stack, Arthur Conan (705,000). Other notable players on that table include Markus Durnegger and Serdar Demircan.

Talbot’s table also features Michal Schuh who lost a huge pot to Teh last night for the chip lead. Anton Wigg is fourth in the chip counts with 708,500 and is seated at the same table as Tomas Jozonis, Jia Tang, and Christopher Andler. Patrik Antonius is sharing table space with Danilo Velasevic.

Luc Greenwood will be sparring with Xixiang Luo, Henrik Hecklen, Gary Hasson, Sylvain Loosli, and Guoliang Wei. Former EPT Champion Andrey Pateychuk has Jason Wheeler, Simon Pedersen, and Markku Koplimaa on his starting table. And the list of interesting tables goes on and on.

Another five levels of 90 minutes each have been scheduled today with a 20-minute break after each level. This is how today will go:
