Haxton Bets Big

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Isaac Haxton raised to 55,000 from the hijack and was called by Yunye Lu and Jonas ten Cate in the blinds.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, both Lu and Ten Cate checked. Haxton continued with a bet of 60,000 which only Lu ended up calling.

The turn brought them the {4-Diamonds}, Haxton now barreled a bet of 435,000 into the pot after Lu had checked. Lu considered his options for a bit but then decided to let his hand and this pot go.

Heidorn Takes His Time With the Cameras

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Robert Heidorn
Robert Heidorn

In an under-the-gun versus big blind situation, the flop came {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Giovani Torre checked. Robert Heidorn bet 65,000 and Torre check-raised to 240,000. Being on a payjump, Heidorn then slid the majority of his stack forward worth 670,000, leaving himself with 35,000 behind.

Torre however, presumed it was a full shove, revealed the {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a set and put his stack in. According to the table, he had revealed his hand before making the motion to call, and Torre still had the option to decide what to do. He then shoved all in and Heidorn let out a chuckle.

"You're in front," he laughed. While the camera's swooped in, Heidorn still had a ton of time bank cards to burn through, and he used up five of them while making small talk with the others. With no other people busting out during that time, he eventually called the rest off.

Robert Heidorn: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Giovani Torre: {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Heidorn was drawing live against the set but neither the {j-Hearts} turn nor {2-Hearts} river helped him. The 39 remaining players are now guaranteed €31,040. Torre received a warning after the hand.

PSPC 2020: Daryl Inglis might need a bigger jar

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Platinum Pass Winner Daryl Inglis
Platinum Pass Winner Daryl Inglis

After serving 20 years in the Canadian military, including deployments to Bosnia and Afghanistan, 39-year-old Daryl Inglis received a medical discharge in 2015.

He turned to skiing, surfing, kayaking and mountain biking to occupy his time, but now aged 43, he felt something was missing. It turned out that poker, a game he’d been introduced to some nine years ago, was the perfect outlet.

“About 15 years into my military career some friends invited me to play a $20 tournament, and I busted first,” Inglis tells PokerStars Blog the morning after winning a Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) 2020 worth €26,466 (we’ll get to that in a moment).

“I went back the next week, and busted first again. This happened for about a month, so I told myself I have to get better,” he continues. “I set up a PokerStars account, but I’ve been a losing player online, down about $800 over eight years. But when it came to live poker, I decided to put $40 in a jar and said ‘this is only for poker’. I use it to buy-in, and whatever I win goes back in. Six weeks later I had $1,000, so that showed me I was making good decisions.”
