McGovern Jams Into Koplimaa

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Markku Koplimaa inquired about the stack size of Barry McGovern in the big blind and raised to 1,150,000 from early position. McGovern called to see the {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop, which he checked. Koplimaa bet 550,000 and McGovern moved all in.

Koplimaa asked for a count and the 3,775,000 total proved to be too much.

Fellow short stack Jai Saha jammed the next button to claim the blinds and big blind ante without any resistance.

Koplimaa Chips Up

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Matias Arosuo raised to 825,000 and Adam Hendrix called in the big blind. On a {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop, Hendrix checked and folded when he faced a bet of 875,000.

One hand later, Jose Quintas opened to 800,000 first to act and was called by Markku Koplimaa from one seat over and Barry McGovern in the big blind. The action checked to Koplimaa on the {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop and he asked McGovern for his stack size. McGovern cut out his remaining chips of 5,525,000 and Koplimaa then bet 950,000, only Quintas called.

After the {8-Clubs} turn, Quintas checked and quickly folded when Koplimaa made it 3,575,000 to go.

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Matias Arosuo raised to 825,000 from middle positon and Jose Quintas called from the big blind.

Lawrence Whyte Eliminated in 8th Place (€67,500)

Lawrence Whyte
Lawrence Whyte

Lawrence Whyte opened to 950,000 and he was called two ways by [Removed:328] in the small blind and Jai Saha in the big blind. After the {a-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop, [Removed:329] and Saha checked to Whyte, who continued for 1,600,000.

[Removed:329] raised to 4,050,000 to force a quick fold from Saha, while Whyte moved all in after a few seconds. An instant call from [Removed:329] followed and the biggest pot of the tournament so far emerged.

Lawrence Whyte: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
[Removed:328]: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Whyte picked up an additional gutshot on the {3-Spades} turn, but the {9-Spades} river provided no help to send the American to the rail in 8th place for €67,500.

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Markku Koplimaa opened to 850,000 on the button and Matias Arosuo three-bet to 2,900,000 from the small blind. [Removed:328] folded from the big blind and Koplimaa gave it some thought, then gave up his hand.

Jose Prieto Pulido Eliminated in 9th Place (€54,670)

Jose Prieto Pulido
Jose Prieto Pulido

The action started with a raise to 700,000 by Lawrence Whyte in middle position and Matias Arosuo three-bet to 2,400,000 in the cutoff. Jose Prieto Pulido four-bet all in for 4,800,000 and Whyte went over the top, which prompted a quest for a count by Arosuo. The all in of Whyte was for 6,800,000 and that proved to be too much for Arosuo.

Jose Prieto Pulido: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Lawrence Whyte: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The {k-Spades} in the window was a very short-lived hope for the Spaniard as the {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} followed suit. No miracle runner-runner happened as the blank {3-Clubs} turn and {6-Diamonds} river sent Prieto Pulido to the rail in 9th place for €54,670.
