Carrel Moves into Chip Lead

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Charlie Carrel opened button and Michael Soyza defended his big blind.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Soyza checked. Carrel bet 32,000 and Soyza check-raised to 110,000. Carrel called.

Soyza bet 250,000 on the {3-Spades} turn and Carrel called.

The two players checked the {3-Hearts} river. Soyza showed {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for two pair, but had been counterfeited by Carrel's {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}

"Lucky lucky," said Soyza. "Unfortunately..."

Fortunate Chop for Yong

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Sergio Aido raised to 35,000 in middle position and Richard Yong shipped all in for 168,000 in the small blind. With the action back on Aido, he asked for a count before making the call.

Sergio Aido: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Richard Yong: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Yong wasn't pleased with the situation as he let out a big moan. The flop of {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} didn't benefit him either. However, the {4-Hearts} on the turn provided some chop outs and the {8-Clubs} on the river kept Yong alive for now.

Double Elimination Boosts Carrel

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Jean-Noel Thorel moved all in from under the gun for 150,000 and Stanley Choi moved all in from the button for 230,000. Charlie Carrel was in the big blind and called putting both players at risk.

Jean-Noel Thorel: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Stanley Choi: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Charlie Carrel: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

"Small cards," said Choi, but the flop {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Diamonds} gave Carrel top pair. The turn {5-Spades} gave Thorel a flush draw, but the river was the {4-Clubs} and both Choi and Thorel were eliminated.

The remaining 15 players are redrawing around two tables.

Lucky River for Cortes Sends Petrangelo Packing

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

On a board reading {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, Nick Petrangelo was already all in. Daniel Dvoress also shoved all in and Jesus Cortes wasn't able to let his hand go either.

Jesus Cortes: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Daniel Dvoress: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Nick Petrangelo: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Each player had some potential of winning the pot and it was Cortes who was the beneficiary of the {8-Spades} on the river. Cortes rivered a straight which eliminated Petrangelo and Dvoress fell down the leaderboard.

Greenwood Doubles Through Yong

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Cards were on their back...well, not all of them. Richard Yong held {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} and opponent Sam Greenwood - who was all in for 92,000 - had revealed just the {a-Diamonds} with the other card face down.

In the end, that's all he needed on the {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Greenwood turned over the accompanying {8-Diamonds} and took down the pot.

Ike Haxton
Ike Haxton

Mikita Badziakouski opened to 30,000 on the button and Sergio Aido three-bet to 115,000 from the small blind.

Isaac Haxton four-bet all in from the big blind for 600,00. Badziakouski folded and Aido called.

Sergio Aido: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Isaac Haxton: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and Haxton was eliminated.

Carrel Five-Bets and Shows

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Stanley Choi opened to 26,000 for the second hand in a row, and Charlie Carrel three-bet to 76,000 just like the last time. Unlike the previous hand where Choi folded, he opted to stick in a four-bet to 236,000 after a time extension.

Carrel went into the tank for over a minute, using two of his time banks before five-bet shipping all in. Choi was left with just 270,000 behind and he went back into the tank. After a minute of thinking, Choi stood up from his chair as a rail gathered around him. He eventually sent his cards to the muck and the pot was shipped toward Carrel.

"Do you wanna see a bluff?" Carrel asked.

"Sure, show me," responded Choi.

Carrel turned over {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and pounded his chest, showing he had the most heart in the hand.
