Duguchi Eliminated by Catan

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Yoichiro Deguchi was down to 15,200, just under 10 big blinds, and he moved all in from under the gun. It was folded all round until the action came to Guy Catan in the big blind who thought for a little while before making the call.

Guy Catan: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Yoichiro Deguchi: {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Deguchi was the slight favorite as the money went in. On the {3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop, Catan took the lead, having improved to a pair of queens. The {4-Clubs} turn was no help and he had just three aces to hit on the river. Instead it came the {k-Spades} and Deguchi hit the rail.

Former professional football player and Mali international Jimmy Kebe, who's more known for his poker prowess these days, was eliminated in the first level of the day. Holding {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, Kebe got it in for his last 20,500 and saw the board ran out {3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Jean Mikhael had {a-}{j-} to make a straight on the river for an early demise of the right winger.

Teltscher Eliminated After Short Day 2

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Mark Teltscher
Mark Teltscher

Mark Teltscher started the day with just a bit over 45,000 but he just lost his last chip in a coin flip. He was already down to 28,000 when he got it in the middle with {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. He had to win against {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} but that task seemed undoable for Teltscher.

The board ran out {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Teltscher was sent packing.

Velasevic Doubles Sonsterudbraten

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Danilo Velasevic raised to 3,400 from the button and big blind Even Sonsterudbraten pushed his last 26,800 to the middle. The player in the big blind got out of the way and Velasevic didn't think too long before he called the all-in bet.

Velasevic had {a-Spades}{8-Spades} and he was up against {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

The {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop brought two pair for Velasevic but Sonsterudbraten took over the lead with the {2-Diamonds} turn. The river was the {4-Spades} and Sonsterudbraten doubled up.

No Spin-Up For $3 Spin & Go Qualifier Sio Hong Si

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Celina Lin, Sio Hong Si and Fatima Moreira de Melo

For Sio Hong Si, his once-in-a-lifetime experience of playing in the EPT Main Event has come to an end early on Day 2. Si won a package for just $3 on PokerStars, and he traveled 35 hours from Macau to visit and play in Monaco for the first time in his life.

Si survived the first day with just four big blinds and started the second day next to Celina Lin. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't able to spin those chips up and with the camera's capturing everything, he made his way to the exit.

Bicknell Barrels into Concepcion

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Kristen Bicknell opened the action from the button and both players in the blinds called.

The flop was the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and after two checks, Bicknell continued for 5,000. Only Jonathan Concepcion called from the big blind and they were heads up on the turn.

It was the {a-Diamonds} and after another check from Conception, Bicknell barreled for 13,000, which prompted a speedy fold from her opponent.

It is a tough table to be sure, with Randy Lew and Mike Watson also in contention on Table 31.

Philipp Gruissem

Philipp Gruissem sat in the small blind when it folded to him and he raised to 5,500. Big blind Leonard Maue defended to see the flop.

The flop fell {6-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Gruissem continued with a bet of 4,000. Maue called again and the turn was the {j-Clubs}. This time the bet placed by Gruissem was 14,000 and Maue got out of the way.

''The first I usually missplay. This hand I played perfectly! It's some sort of trauma.'' The German added while he raked in his first pot of the day.
