Thorel Eyes Further High Roller Success

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Winner of yesterday's Single-Day €25,000 High Roller, Jean-Noel Thorel limped into a pot with Mikita Badziakouski and Matthias Eibinger.

The flop {3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} was checked to Thorel who bet 2,000. Eibinger was the only caller.

The turn was the {9-Hearts} and Eibinger check-called 4,000. The river {8-Spades} was checked by both players.

Eibinger showed a {10-Clubs} for a pair of tens but Thorel took down the pot with {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for two pair.

First Four-Bet Goes to O'Dwyer

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Steve O'Dwyer opened to 2,500 in the cutoff and Yang Wang called on the button. Matthias Eibinger three-bet to 18,500 from the small blind and O'Dwyer responded with a four-bet to 54,500.

Wang quickly folded but Eibinger chose to use one of his time extensions in the early going before laying his hand down as well.

Kahle Burns and Timothy Adams are the latest players to join the field, bringing it up to 13 players in their seats.

PokerStars EPT Prague €50,000 Super High Roller Set to Get Underway

2018 €50,000 Super High Roller champion Matthias Eibinger
2018 €50,000 Super High Roller champion Matthias Eibinger

It's the largest buy-in event of the 2019 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague festival, and starting today PokerNews will bring you live coverage of the €50,000 Super High Roller which gets underway at 12:30 pm.

A whole host of familiar faces are expected in the field, including several of those who entered the earlier €10,300 High Roller. Adrian Mateos emerged victorious in that two-day event, and no doubt he will be looking for another strong performance in this three-day event.

Last year it was Matthias Eibinger who won the €50,000 Super High Roller, defeating Hungarian Andras Nemeth heads-up for €653,000 ($739,552). Since then, the Austrian also took down the PokerStars EPT Monte Carlo €50,000 Super High Roller for €844,080 ($942,495) so is one to watch when this tournament gets underway.

This tournament has unlimited re-entry with registration closing at the start of Day 2. There are eight 60-minute levels scheduled for Day 1, with a 15-minute break every two levels. Players will be used to it by now, having been a staple of High Rollers on the EPT for a while now, but there will also be a 30-second shot clock in use throughout. Players will each receive six 30-second time extensions at the start of play, with three additional time extensions both at the start of day 2 and once the final table is reached.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for full coverage of this Super High Roller event, or of Day 2 of the EPT National which also takes place today.
