"I Love This Game!"

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

David Katav saw action folded to him on the button and made it 100,000 to go. Patrick El Kallas came over the top from the small blind for his last 595,000 and Katav called to send the two off to the races.

Patrick El Kallas: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
David Katav: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

El Kallas found himself in a coin flip situation at risk for his tournament life, needing to hold against Katav's big slick. The board came {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and he earned the double at Katav's expense as a result.

"I love this game!" said El Kallas as the river hit, seeing that he had held. There was a small friendly discussion between the two players as the next hand began and then they got back to business once all cards had been dealt.

Big Slick Holds for Both Burns and Ivanov

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Simon Burns
Simon Burns

Simon Burns opened to 85,000 in the hijack and was three-bet to 300,000 by Giulio Mascolo out of the cutoff. The next two players folded to put action onto Lyudmil Ivanov, who cold four-bet all in for 505,000. Burns went over the top for 1.105 million and Mascolo called quickly called.

Lyudmil Ivanov: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Simon Burns: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Giulio Mascolo: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Mascolo found himself hoping for a queen to score the double knockout and chip up tremendously; meanwhile, Ivanov had his sights set on a share of the main pot. Burns did as well, but also was in great position to take down the side pot for a sizeable increase to his stack.

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, missing the possibility at two pair coming on board for a three-way chop. Stacks and pots were divided accordingly and both Burns and Ivanov saw big increases to their stacks at the expense of Mascolo.
