Van Rooij Escapes Elimination

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Merijn van Rooij
Merijn van Rooij

Folded to the small blind, Merijn van Rooij open-shoved for 7,750,000 and Alejandro Lococo called after about 90 seconds from the big blind.

Merijn van Rooij: {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Alejandro Lococo: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Van Rooij was dominated but paired his inferior kicker on the {j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop. The turn, however, brought the {q-Spades} to swing Lococo back into the lead.

The dealer burned and turned the river {10-Diamonds}, giving both players a king-high straight to chop the pot. Lococo glanced over to his rail and shook his head in disappointment.

Cottin Shoves

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

It's been a relatively quiet early phase with no big movements yet. Nicolas Cottin just became the second player today to go all in, moving his entire stack of over 6 million across the line from the small blind. Ville Jantunen gave up the big blind to hand Cottin the blinds and ante.

Up and Down for Van Rooij

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Merijn van Rooij has been the most active player in the early stages, but hasn't been able to build out his stack thus far. First, he raised under the gun to 800,000 and Jakub Koleckar defended the big blind. On an {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop, Koleckar checked, Van Rooij bet 600,000, Koleckar casually flicked in a check-raise to 1,500,000 and the Dutchman folded.

A few hands later, Ville Jantunen raised to 800,000 in middle position, Van Rooij made it 1,700,000 on the button and Jantunen folded.

Pots for Kyte and Van Rooij

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Earlier, Jon Kyte took a small pot with a continuation bet after raising preflop, before Merijn van Rooij won some chips bet with a successful three-bet.

In that last hand, it was Jakub Koleckar who made it 800,000 to go. Van Rooij, on a relatively shallow stack, three-bet to 1,900,000 and Koleckar folded.
