Kim Gets a Shove Through

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Dawid Smolka had recently entered the field and raised to 3,500 from under the gun. He was called by Jean-Noel Thorel in the cutoff and Namhyung Kim three-bet to 13,500 in the big blind. Smolka called and Thorel reraised to 33,500.

What followed was the jam by Kim for 70,500 and Smolka quickly folded. Thorel asked for an exact count and also sent the cards into the muck as well.

Abussamra Among the Early Big Stacks

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Elias Abussamra won a healthy pot when Bernd Gleissner failed to get a bluff through on a ten-high board, revealing the {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}. Abussamra won the pot with the {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to chip up and then raised the next hand for Levan Rcheulishvili to defend out of the blinds.

Both checked the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop and the {7-Spades} turn was also checked by Rcheulishvili. Abussamra bet 3,500 and that won the next pot.

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Jamil Wakil in the small blind checked the {q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and then called a bet worth 7,000 by Yasuhiro Waki on the button. That led them to the {j-Clubs} turn on which Wakil almost depleted the 30-second shot clock before he made it 26,500 to go. Waki gave it very short consideration and folded.

Moments later one table over, Sam Greenwood was spotted on his way out as the board and cards were already ushered away. The {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} of the Canadian had missed a flush draw while Bernd Gleissner seemed to have prevailed with {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

Peffly Slips Further; Kisacikoglu Chips Up Some More

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Another medium-sized pot of around 50,000 emerged between Orpen Kisacikoglu and Alex Peffly with the former in the big blind. The board showed {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Kisacikoglu made it 30,000 to go. Peffly mulled it over for a bit on the button and then folded, claiming in table chat to have had jack-ten.

Gleissner Pays Off Lee

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

On a heads-up river of {k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} board, Hwany Lee bet 12,000 into a pot of around 40,000 while in the small blind. Bernd Gleissner instantly sighed and was visibly frustrated. He invested multiple time bank extensions and then called with the words "only because I want to see".

Lee rolled over the {6-Spades}{2-Spades} for a flush and Gleissner grinned a "thank you" before mucking his cards.

Two Bets Work for Kim

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Four ways to the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, the action checked to Gab Yong Kim and he bet 2,500 in the cutoff. Orpen Kisacikoglu called on the button while Espen Oeye and Namhyung Kim folded thereafter. That led the remaining two players to the {9-Hearts} turn and Kim bet 8,500 to take down the pot uncontested.

After the hand was completed, Jean-Noel Thorel joined the same table. The French businessman won this very tournament at the 2022 EPT Monte-Carlo festival.

Peffly Wins With a Check-Raise

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Gab Yong Kim raised to 2,500 from under the gun and was called only by Alex Peffly in the big blind. The flop brought {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Peffly checked, which triggered a bet worth 3,000 by Kim. A check-raise to 10,000 followed and Kim sent his cards into the muck.
