Sammartino Crosses 300,000 With River Call

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Dario Sammartino
Dario Sammartino

With over 40,000 in the pot on a {4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, Andre Marques bet 27,500 from the big blind. Dario Sammartino called under the gun and the duo saw the {4-Hearts} on the turn.

Both players now checked, and the {j-Diamonds} hit the river. After using a pair of time banks, Marques bet 35,000, which after using a time bank of his own Sammartino called.

Marques showed {a-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, while Sammartino showed {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} for the superior ace-high to earn a pot that takes his stack to 300,000.

John Juanda open-shoved his short stack of around 45,000 from the cutoff and was called by Rui Neves Ferreira in the big blind.

John Juanda: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Rui Neves Ferreira: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

The 2015 EPT Barcelona Main Event champion had run into aces and he let out a sigh as the board landed {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds} to improve Ferreira to a set. The board then finished out {9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} to give Juanda a meaningless two pair and mark his elimination.

"Two pair no good?" Juanda joked before wishing good luck to table mate and fellow Asia-Pacific native David Yan.
