Fernandes No More

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Not to be confused with the Portuguese midfielder that plays for Manchester United, France's Bruno Fernandes saw his stack reduced to zero within two hands.

He first looked up the short stack shove by Tibor Halatsch for 12,200 with the {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and was up against {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. The board ran out {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Halatsch stuck around.

Fernandes was then all-in from the button with the {q-Hearts}{j-Spades} and Justinas Jachimavicius had that crushed in the small blind with the {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. The {7-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} board brought no miracle escape for Fernandes, who quickly headed out of the tournament area.

Grzegorz Glowny

This year's EPT Prague Main Event champion Grzegorz Glowny has been struggling to chip up throughout Day 1b, and he got his last 25,000 into the middle against Michael Chetrit.

Grzegorz Glowny: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Michael Chetrit: {a-}{k-}

The board ran out {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Chetrit held on with big slick to bust the champ from the tournament as Day 1b nears its final stages.

Alt Bad Beats Kitajima

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Dinesh Alt
Dinesh Alt

Three ways to the {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop, Hayato Kitajima bet 5,200 in the small blind. Dinesh Alt eventually raise to 15,000 in the big blind and that forced a fold from Noah Novick. Kitajima moverd all-in for little more and Alt called.

Hayato Kitajima: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Dinesh Alt: {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The {q-Diamonds} turn instantly improved Alt to the superior pair and the {4-Diamonds} river was a blank, sending Kitajima to the buy-in desk in order to re-enter.

An excited Mehdi Chaoui leaped out of his seat after he had secured a fortunate double up through table neighbour Edouard Sadoun. Chaoui's {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} were trailing against pocket aces but the {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Hearts} board came to the rescue.

Kassouf Gets Away From One

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Joseph Ayoub opened from middle position and William Kassouf raised to 5,100 from the cutoff. The button and blinds got out of the way and action was back on Ayoub.

Ayoub spent a few minutes in the tank before he three-bet to 12,000, giving Kassouf his turn in the tank. Kassouf was relatively quiet as he considered all of the possibilities before he finally tossed his hand in the muck to give up the pot.

Kassouf still took an opportunity to pry for information.

"Ace-king? Ace-queen?" he asked Ayoub, but his opponent completely ignored him.

Briffard Finds a Double

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Action was heads-up and Victor Brifford got his last 8,500 into the middle from the big blind and Laurent Torres was the one to put him at risk from the button.

Victor Brifford: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Laurent Torres: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Brifford's set of queens was more than good enough to secure the double.

Wheeler Eliminated by Cai

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Three ways to the {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs} river, Attila Koncz in the big blind and Ruoqin Cai in an early position both checked. Jason Wheeler moved all-in for the last 16,900 and Koncz went into the tank. The Hungarian eventually folded, which now had Cai mull over it for another minute.

Cai then called and Wheeler tabled the {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes, which his opponent had beat with the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} for a pair of tens.
