Martirosian Masters the Double Check-Raise

Level 23 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Sam Grafton raised to the minimum of 160,000 from the cutoff and Artur Martirosian defended his big blind.

The flop came down 5510 and Martirosian checked to Grafton, who again bet the minimum of 80,000. Martirosian raised the bet to 300,000 and Grafton obliged with a call.

On the 10 turn Martirosian slowed down again and checked. Grafton responded with a bet of 125,000 but fell into the trap of Martirosian, who was masterminding a double check-raise to 250,000. Grafton called again and the pair saw the A river fall.

No more checking for Martirosian who now shoved his last 190,000 chips in the middle. The river did not bring whatever Grafton was looking for as he quickly let his hand go.

Level 22 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

The action folded to Maksim Vaskresenski on the button who pushed in his stack of 495,000. Sam Greenwood asked for a count from the big blind and then called only to find the bad news.

Maksim Vaskresenski: K10
Sam Greenwood: K7

Vaskresenski was in a dominating position but the flop of 643 gave Greenwood some extra outs. However, the 8 and 8 runout changed nothing and Vaskresenski found a double-up.

Level 21 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

Julien Sitbon was sitting on a short stack in the under-the-gun position and decided to put around half of it in the middle for a raise of 200,000. Sam Grafton called from the button and the other players got out of the way.

The flop fell A8J and Sitbon pushed the rest of his stack in, getting a snap call from Grafton.

Julien Sitbon: A9
Sam Grafton: AQ

Sitbon was dominated by Grafton and neither the 6 turn nor the 7 river brought him relief. He was eliminated in sixth place while the other players continue to battle for the trophy.

Beresford Doubles Through Martirosian

Level 21 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Conor Beresford jammed all in for 315,000 in the hijack and Artur Martirosian just called on the button. The blinds quickly folded and the two hands were face up.

Conor Beresford: KQ
Artur Martirosian: QJ

The flop came 554 and Beresford maintained his dominating position. The 7 on the turn changed nothing and the Q on the river gave both players two pair, but Beresford's kicker was enough for the double up.
