An interesting topic came up on the PokerStars live stream, which you can watch here, with commentator Joe Stapleton asking Maria Ho which player she thought studies the most.

"Davies has to be pretty well-studied," said Ho. "Lonis tweets that he's all exploitative and not a really a studier. And Sean [Winter] - I don't wanna assume, but I don' thtink he's the type that's poring over the solvers."

"But if you think about the people Davies runs with, Jason Koon and the like. Those people are obviously in the lab. And Mokri's a sicko, we know his online results. The online fields are very tough, so you wanna be doing some solver-approved stuff in those streets."

Seth Davies A♥K♣ raised to 180,000 in the small blind and Kayhan Mokri Q♥6♠ three-bet to 360,000 in the big blind.

"I raise the minimum," said Davies, announcing a min-raise to 540,000.

Mokri used a time bank before letting his hand go into the muck.

"Nine-deuce of clubs?" said Sean Winter.

"Someone's been watching the streams," replied Davies.

Last year at in Barcelona, France's Simon Wiciak defeated João Sydenstricker heads-up to win the EPT Main Event for €1,134,375.

Wiciak bested the field of 2,120 runners for the golden trophy, his first major live poker title, and the career-best seven-figure score.

The Frenchman struck a three-handed deal with Sydenstricker and Britain's Carl Shaw that flattened the payouts, and the trio played on for the trophy and an additional €108,975 in prize money.

Sean Winter limped in from the small blind with J♥10♥. Seth Davies, in the big blind, put in a raise to 200,000 holding K♥Q♦.

Winter thought on his decision before committing a three-bet of 1,655,000, an effective all-in with just 65,000 behind the line. Davies had to let go of the best hand.

Davies used a time bank before four-betting all in for 2,405,000 and Lonis folded. Winter snap-called and put Davies at risk.

It wasn't looking good for Davies who was well and truly up against it, However, there was a seven in the window of a Q♦7♥4♦ flop, giving Davies a set, with the 6♣ turn and 3♠ river securing a massive double for Davies.

Action folded to Seth Davies on the button with A♣2♥ and he moved all in for 2,105,000, covering the two short stacks in the blinds.

Santhosh Suvarna K♣7♣ had 710,000 chips and used a time bank before folding, with Kayhan Mokri 10♠9♠ also quickly folding.

"That was crazy just now," said Davies. "I literally thought of a hand that I didn't know exactly what I was going to do. And that's what I got dealt. That was crazy. The one hand I thought about where I was like 'I'll figure that out if I get it'"
