One of the most entertaining shows in poker is stepping it up a notch as PokerStars announced that the next season of Big Game on Tour will feature four-time Super Bowl champion and NFL star Rob "Gronk" Gronkowski.
Gronkowski, who spent 11 seasons as a tight end in the NFL and is now a sports analyst, will compete on the upcoming The Big Game on Tour season alongside the pros, Loose Cannons and sports media personality Nick Wright, whose appearance was also confirmed on Thursday.
“I’m always up for a challenge, and diving into the world of poker is going to be an amazing new adventure for me," Gronkowski said in a press release. “I’m beyond excited to play alongside some of the best in the game and tackle the high-stakes action. Just like on the football field, I’ll be bringing my competitive edge and giving it everything I’ve got at the tables.”
The final three players have reached a deal.
Adrian Mateos has secured $555,758, while Artur Martirosian takes home $495,815. Chip leader Mikalai Vaskaboinikau, having offered some equity to the two pros, will collect $542,120.
An additional $59,277 remains in play for the eventual winner.
Vaskaboinikau is also guaranteed the trophy. Mateos and Martirosian have agreed that if either of them claims victory, they will hand over the coveted Golden Shard to Vaskaboinikau.
Action has been paused while the players discuss a potential deal.
Artur Martirosian raised to 160,000 from the button before Mikalai Vaskaboinikau made it 525,000 from the small blind. Martirosian four-bet to 1,100,000 and Vaskaboinikau called.
The K♣7♦7♣ flop checked through to the 3♥ turn. Vaskaboinikau fired out 525,000 and was called.
The 4♠ completed the board, and Vaskaboinikau jammed for 1,545,000. Martirosian used up a time bank before calling the all-in.
Vaskaboinikau had K♦10♦ for kings and sevens, besting Martirosian's Q♥Q♦ for the chip lead.
Artur Martirosian raised to 160,000 on the button and Adrian Mateos defended K♥2♥.
The flop came Q♥10♠5♦ and Martirosian bet 110,000. Mateos then raised to 650,000 and Martirosian snap-folded A♥9♥.
Adrian Mateos limped in from the small blind with 6♣5♣ and Artur Martirosian checked 8♥4♥.
The flop came Q♦Q♠4♠ and Mateos checked. Martirosian then bet 120,000 with two pair, Mateos raised to 390,000, and Martirosian called.
Mateos checked the J♦ turn and Martirosian bet 280,000. Mateos quickly folded once more.
Mikalai Vaskaboinikau limped in from the small blind with J♣10♥ and Adrian Mateos checked back Q♥10♦.
The J♠7♣2♠ flop gave Vaskaboinikau top pair and he led out for 175,000. Mateos called to see the 5♣ turn, where Vaskaboinikau bet 450,000. Mateos quickly folded as he fell to the short stack at the table.
Mikalai Vaskaboinikau raised to 160,000 on the button and Artur Martirosian defended 7♥4♥.
The flop came Q♦4♠3♠ and Vaskaboinikau bet 225,000. Martirosian called with his pair of fours as the Q♠ turn improved him to two pair. Martirosian then led out for 200,000 and Vaskaboinikau folded K♥10♥.
