There was a preflop war at Table 62, starting with Mikalai Ihnatovich opening the action to 1,200 from middle position. Simon Hajek, sitting to his direct left, responded with a three-bet to 3,800.
Ihnatovich raised again, making it 8,700, and the action returned to Hajek. Hajek checked his opponent's stack, then grabbed a pile of blue chips and made a five-bet for the effective all-in of 27,000.
Ihnatovich counted his chips but ultimately decided to fold, and Hajek added more to his stack.
Rifat Palevic moved all in for 3,100 from early position, Koyes Miah called on the button and Simone Demasi, in the big blind, three-bet to 7,200. Miah called.
With action on the side, the dealer spread the J♦7♥10♥ flop. Demasi put Miah all in for his effective stack of 16,200.
"Gamble!" announced Miah as he called off the bet for his tournament life.
Demasi was in a commanding lead until the 5♦ turn spiked to give Palevic a set. The 3♥ river bricked out for Miah's straight and flush draw and Demasi's aces held for a large size pot, eliming Miah. Palevic more than tripled up.
Patrick Grabmann was already all-in and at risk for approximately 15,000 from the small blind against Eleftherios Kavoukis, who had Grabmann covered from under the gun.
Patrick Grabmann: J♥J♠
Eleftherios Kavoukis: A♦K♣
It was a race, but the 3♣8♦4♦2♠10♣ runout kept Grabmann's jacks best and he was awarded the double up.
PokerNews caught the action with the pot at approximately 14,800 and the board showing 7♥8♦3♦9♣2♥. Sebastian Schulze, first to act, checked to Fehim Hajdari.
After a brief pause to consider his options, Hajdari moved all in, putting Schulze to the test. Schulze went into the tank for about three minutes before ultimately deciding to risk it all and called.
Schulze revealed A♥3x for a modest pair of threes, but Hajdari confidently turned over J♣10♣ for a dominating straight, sending Schulze to the rail and adding a solid pot to his stack.
