Straightey, Flushey Board Saves Dyrstad From Potential Disaster
Level 2
: Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Allan Dyrstad and John Burke saw a flop of Q♦7♥K♦ when Dyrstad bet 1,600 from early position. Burke called in middle position.
The turn was the A♦, and Dyrstad bet another 3,500. Burke quickly called, and the J♦ fell on the river, putting four cards to a royal flush on the board.
Dyrstad slowed down and checked, and Burke checked back. Dyrstad turned over 7♣7♠ for a set of sevens, but Burke had Q♥Q♣ for a set of queens to win the pot.
Dyrstad could only laugh as he got off light from the cooler-in-the-making. "When the last diamond came, I thought this is either really good or really bad," he said.
