Day 4 Completed
Another day of the €5,300 EPT Barcelona Main Event at the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona inside Casino Barcelona has wrapped up with 29 players remaining. Out in front as the only player with more than 5,000,000 is France's Yohan Rascar, who lapped his opponents as he looks to add to his $373,978 in Hendon Mob earnings, already having locked up a career-best score.
Also among the big stacks are Spain's Sergio Carro Marin (4,275,000), Romania's Sebastian Ionita (3,670,000), Sweden's Rifat Palevic (3,310,000, Italy's Umberto Zaffagnini (2,925,000) and Norway's Tobias Leknes (2,860,000).
Other players who found bags on Day 4 include last year's 22nd-place finisher Firoz Mangroe, Day 3 chip leader Martin Nielsen, and Leo Worthington-Leese, looking to best his third-place finish in the 2023 EPT Monte Carlo Main Event that brought him $437,918.
There are no remaining EPT champions in the field, meaning a new winner will be named come Day 7 on Sunday, Aug. 31.

The day began with 103 players and, given that they were well within the money, it didn't take long for the eliminations to build up. Some of them were innocuous, like Chau Shing Lam getting it in with a dominated ace-seven against the Big Slick [Removed:551] and a clean runout confirming his elimination. Others were downright brutal.
One such elimination was that of American high-stakes pro Adam Hendrix, who check-called two streets with two pair to be all in against the double gutter of Cesar Garcia with one card to come. Julius Caesar may have been stabbed in ancient times, but it was Cesar Garcia who dug the knife into his enemy as he hit his straight on the river to deliver a crushing beat to the Alaska all-time money leader.
Not brutal enough? How about Ronnie Lemmens cracking the aces of Carlos Garcia with ace-king by flopping a king and turning another one? Or Michael Uguccioni getting it in with ace-queen against the tens of Heitor Maciel and seeing an ace in the window right before a ten hit on the flop?
A few highlights of the day include Javier Tazon making a hero call against Karl Karlsson before his impeccably named opponent got revenge, a suck and re-suck that ousted [Removed:551] and added to the stack of the earlier mentioned Garcia, Lauri Saaskilahti hitting runner-runner trips holding an unsuited nine-four.
Those who failed to advance through Day 4 include Jason Wheeler, who PokerNews featured and interviewed here, Dr. Seuss inspiration Sam Lam, here, and two-time EPT final tablist Peter Jorgne.
Day 5 will kick off at noon local time inside Casino Barcelona on Level 25 with blinds of 20,000/40,000/40,000. Each returning player is guaranteed at least €34,800, while €1,436,000 awaits the eventual champion.
PokerNews will be back on-site tomorrow following every step of the EPT Barcelona Main Event, so stay tuned.

From the hijack, Tobias Leknes raised to 60,000, and Rifat Palevic was the only caller out of the small blind.
Palevic checked the Q♥6♦8♦ flop and Leknes laid out a bet of 80,000. Palevic continued in the form of a call.
The 2♠ checked through for the 10♥ to appear on the river. Another two checks followed and Palevic showed 6♥3♥ for a pair of sixes. Leknes mucked A♦K♦ and the pot went over to Palevic.

Around 400,000 was in the pot as Marc Foggin and Artus Gimenez went heads-up to a Q♣9♣5♣ flop. Foggin then bet 110,000 from the button, Gimenez raised to 350,000 under the gun, and Foggin called.
The turn was the 9♦ and Gimenez bet 300,000. Foggin called and the K♥ fell on the river.
Gimenez checked over to Foggin, who bet 475,000. Gimenez instantly threw in all of his time banks and tanked for a minute before calling.
Foggin turned over A♣8♣ for the flopped nut flush. "If you go all in, I snap," Gimenez told him as he mucked.

On a flop of 8♣J♠Q♠, Cesar Garcia on the button bet 90,000, and he was called by Lars Tungel in the small blind.
Garcia fired a second barrel of 210,000 on the 6♦ turn and was called, then after Tungel checked the 7♣ river, he moved in for approximately 1,200,000.
Tungel used several time bank cards to make a decision and eventually chose to fold.
