Alsoud Deflates Carbo

Modar Alsoud raised to 200,000 from the hijack and Gerard Carbo defended his big blind.

Carbo check-called for 200,000 on the K♥8♣4♣ flop, bringing in the A♠ turn. Carbo then check-raised to 1,100,000 over a bet of 350,000. Alsoud called.

The J♦ completed the board, and Carbo sized up to 1,650,000. Alsoud thought for a few moments, before making a one chip call.

Carbo confidently turned over A♦8♥ for aces and eights, but he was immediately deflated when Alsoud tabled A♣J♣ for a better two pair.

Carbo had his head in his hands as the pot was shipped to Alsoud.

Catching the tail end of a blind-on-blind battle between Matas Cimbolas and Siarhei Sochneu, Cimbolas checked the completed board of 2♠9♣Q♣6♦J♦ over to Sochneu.

Sochneu then added 300,000 to the pot of 700,000, to which Cimbolas responded with a raise to 1,275,000.

After some thought, Sochneu flicked in a call. Cimbolas showed a pair of nines with his 10♦9♦, but Sochneu had the higher pair with Q♦10♥, chipping him up further.

Margereson Claims Biggest Pot of Tournament So Far

Scott Margereson, from a stack of 3,475,000, raised to 160,000 from the cutoff. Tom Fuchs covered him by 210,000 and jammed from the small blind. Margereson rechecked his hand, and called to swell the pot to 7,110,000.

Margereson remained ahead in the coin flip after the 10♠5♠5♣ flop. The 3♠ turn kept the jacks in front and the 4♥ river confirmed his survival, and put him at the top of the counts.

Fuchs jammed from the button on the next deal, and managed to steal the blinds to essentially double.

Small blind Dario Pieruzzini quickly called off for 1,950,000 before Ivan Martinez let his hand go in the big blind.

Palandiuk had jammed into pocket aces, but the K♣10♣5♠ flop gave him some outs. The 2♦ turn was meaningless, but the A♦ river made Palandiuk the nut straight to gain the checkmerk.

Pieruzzini pulled out his phone to take a picture of the bad beat before he said his goodbyes and left the tournament area.

Francesco Di Profio raised it up to 180,000 in middle position. Siarhei Sochneu flat-called in the cutoff, and Merijn van Rooij followed suit on the button.

In what has become his signature move, Di Profio massively over-bet jammed on the A♥8♠6♦ flop, putting in his stack of 2,930,000. Sochneu quickly called, playing only 10,000 less, while Van Rooij got out of the way.

Di Profio's top pair was in dire straits against the set of Sochneu, but the K♥ turn provided some hope. Di Profio did not improve further on the J♥ river, however. Sochneu was granted the huge double-up, while Di Profio was left with crumbs.

One hand later, Di Profio committed his final chips to the middle. Sochneu isolated the all-in with a raise, and the rest of the table mucked their hands.
