Seeing the K♣2♠8♣A♥ appear as the turn, Michael Dwyer bet 15,000 into a pot of 18,000 from the big blind. Felipe Germano sat in middle position, giving it some thought before moving all in for 26,900.
Dwyer spent a minute or so in the tank before he committed the required chips for a call.
Felipe Germano: A♣9♣
Michael Dwyer: K♥2♥
Germano had plenty of outs against Dwyer's two pair, but the 10♦ river was not one of them. Both players tapped the table before Germano departed the tournament area.
Arriving on the 5♥10♦2♥Q♦ turn, Paul Klann got his stack of 25,000 into the middle from the hijack against Manuel Rossi on the button, being the player at risk.
Paul Klann: 2♠2♦
Manuel Rossi: 10♠10♣
Klann was left with one out in the deck after running into a higher set, and he did not find it on the K♥ river.
Ryoji Kusumoto raised to 1,000 from the cutoff and Alexander Yen three-bet the button to 3,000. Yngve Steen cold four-bet jammed the small blind for 10,800, which was called only by Yen.
Yngve Steen: A♦K♥
Alexander Yen: A♠Q♦
Steen's big slick had him way out in front, but that all changed when the Q♥4♥5♣ flop gave Yen top pair.
The 2♦ turn and 5♠ river provided no help to Steen, making him another casualty of Day 1a.
Max Herulf raised the button to 1,000 and Carlos Perez-Dosio three-bet from the small blind to 3,100. Herulf came back with a four-bet to 9,000, which Perez-Dosio called.
Perez-Dosio check-called Herulf's continuation-bet of 5,500 on the 9♦J♣6♣ flop before both players checked the A♠ turn.
The 3♦ arrived on the river and Perez-Dosio jammed, covering Herulf. The shove was for Herulf's remaining stack of around 23,000, and after about a minute, he made the call.
Perez-Dosio tabled A♦J♦ for top two pair to win the pot and send Herulf to the rail, with Herulf revealing A♣5♥ for a pair of aces.
Arriving at the table, Konstantin Generalov was all-in and at risk for his stack of about 12,000, with Bohdan Mamitko standing in his way of survival.
Konstantin Generalov: 9♥9♣
Bohdan Mamitko: 10♥10♣
Generalov had the lower pair and found no assistance from the dealer on the A♣K♣Q♦4♦5♦ runout, sending all of his chips Mamitko's way.
In a three-bet pot, Luis Sequeira bet 2,100 from the small blind on a 7♣K♠3♦ flop. Jon Persent called under the gun, and he called again when Sequeira fired 2,300 on the A♥ turn.
The 6♥ river saw Sequeira put his opponent all in. Persent snapped off the bet, but his stack of 4,500 was moved to Sequeira when the latter opened A♠K♣ for two pair, besting the A♦4♦ of Persent.
