Yamanaka Hero Call Earns a Double Up

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Yurii Zabrodotskyi opened the action with a raise to 4,000 from under the gun. Pocas Barroco then three-bet on the button to 11,000, which, after using a time extension, Kosumosu Yamanaka called in the big blind before Zabrodotskyi folded.

Both players checked on the 2710 flop, prompting Yamanaka to lead out for 12,000 on the 5 turn. Barroco called.

The K river completed the board, and Yamanaka checked. In response, Barroco moved all in, asking Yamanaka to risk his tournament life should he call.

Yamanaka immediately put his two remaining time extensions into the middle, indicating he needed some thinking time.

Ultimately, he chose correctly, making the call and flipping over 88, catching the bluff of Barroco, who tabled AQ.

No Triple for Nguyen

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Ori Miller raised to 4,000 under the gun. Riccardo Trevisani called in the hijack before Ngoc Nguyen committed his last 11,000 on the button. Miller called, and so did Trevisani.

Miller and Trevisani then checked through the 1026 flop, prompting Miller to bet 14,000 on the 7 turn. Trevisani quickly folded, and the cards were tabled.

Ngoc Nguyen: A2 All in
Ori Miller: 76

The 10 river did not save Nguyen, and Miller raked in the chips to cross 100 big blinds in chips.

Hero-Call Spells End for Carvalho

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Manuel Carvalho
Manuel Carvalho

Giuseppe Calio opened to 4,000 in the cutoff. It folded to Manuel Carvalho, who upped the ante to 20,000 in the big blind. Calio called, and the 1058 flop was spread.

Carvalho continued for 13,000, seeing Calio call again. He sized up to 21,000 on the K turn, and another call followed from Calio.

He then opted for a bet of 18,000 on the 2 river. Calio put him all-in for 74,000 in total, and Carvalho called off after spending a time bank.

Calio tabled K10 for two pair. Carvahlo tapped the table and departed the tournament area as he turned over QQ for a pair of queens.

Calio Set Too Much for Sitbon

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Julien Sitbon
Julien Sitbon

With 15,000 in the pot and a monotone 8J3 flop face up on the felt, the action was on Giuseppe Calio, who bet 3,500. Julien Sitbon responded by moving all in for 17,000, which Calio called.

Julien Sitbon: J10 All in
Giuseppe Calio: 88

Sitbon required running cards to keep his Main Event run alive, but the K turn was unforthcoming.

The board was completed by the 6, and, as Sitbon left the area, Calio absorbed his opponent's stack into his own.

Piekazewicz Doubles to Six-Figure Stack

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Ravi Sheth opened to 4,000 in the hijack, and Felipe Ketzer called on the button. It then folded to Alisson Piekazewicz in the big blind, who moved all in for 48,500.

Sheth quickly folded, but Ketzer reluctantly called after requesting a count. "Good luck in the 50K," he jokingly told Piekazewicz as he put in the chips.

Alisson Piekazewicz: KJ All in
Felipe Ketzer: 88

Piekazewicz shot ahead in the flip on the J97 flop, and improved to a flush on the 8 turn. The 3 river was meaningless, and Piekazewicz was awarded the pot.

"You should never call against someone who doesn't care about the money," he laughed as he raked in the chips.
