Big Stacks Battle on Table 17

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Christophe Panetti opened to 5,000 in the hijack. Raul Mestre called on the button before Ramon Lampert made it 18,000 to go in the big blind. Panetti got out of the way, but Mestre quickly tossed in calling chips.

Mestre then called Lampert's bets of 16,000 on the 4Q8 flop and 47,000 on the 10 turn. Lampert slid in a third barrel worth 63,000 on the A river, this time getting rewarded with the pot as Mestre tapped the table and mucked his cards.

Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Seeing a raise to 5,000 ahead of him, Jason Wheeler called in middle position. Next to act, Jeremie Beneteau three-bet to 17,000. The original raiser folded, but Wheeler called for a second time.

Action checked through on the AK7 flop, prompting Wheeler to take over the betting lead on the 5 turn. He put 5,000 into the pot, which Beneteau called.

The 4 completed the board, and Wheeler put a more substantial 40,000 into the middle. Beneteau called without much hesitation, but was shown bad news.

Wheeler flipped over 77 for a set, and Beneteau mucked his hand.

Shylkou Chips Up Against Chip Leader

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Stanislau Shylkou in the small blind and Rodrigo Selouan in the cutoff had gathered a pot of 48,000 preflop when they both checked the 8K7 flop.

Shylkou then bet 12,000 on the 6 turn, which Selouan raised to 45,000. Shylkou called, after which the J river was quickly checked to showdown.

Shylkou tabled AK for top pair, and Selouan showed KQ before it disappeared into the muck.

Joao Vieira opened to 5,000 from under the gun, which only Sergiu Sirghi called in the big blind.

When Sirghi checked on the A10K board, Vieira continued for 4,500, which Sirghi called.

The dealer added the 5 turn to the board, and this time, when Vieira put a more substantial 22,500 into the middle, Sirghi surrendered and returned his cards to the dealer.

Flashback: Aleksandr Shevliakov Wins 2025 EPT Monte-Carlo Main Event

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Aleksandr Shevliakov
Aleksandr Shevliakov

In the movie Rocky IV, Russian boxer Ivan Drago is trained to be a powerful, emotionless fighting machine, showing no mercy towards his opponents. Aleksandr Shevliakov did his best impersonation of his fictional compatriot last year at the final table of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte-Carlo Main Event held at Sporting Monte-Carlo.

Shevliakov, barely cracking a smile or displaying any hint of the pressure of the moment, seized the chip lead early and powered through the rest of the final table on his way to hoisting the Golden Shard trophy and taking home the €1,000,000 first prize after defeating Ukrainian amateur Khossein Kokhestani heads-up and conquering the 1,195-player field.

Labat Wins Flip to Double

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Arthur Conan had three-bet an earlier open to 13,000 in the hijack. Thierry Labat then four-bet to 50,000 on the button and quickly called off his total stack of 85,000,

Thierry Labat: JJ All in

Conan did not find a pair on the 6Q5104 runout, causing Labat to double up and get nearly even in chips with his opponent.
