Daan Ruiter Eliminates Kenny Hicks Jr.

Kenny Hicks Jr.
Kenny Hicks Jr.
On a board showing {2-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, Kenny Hicks Jr. checked the first action to Daan Ruiter who put Hicks all in for approximately 90,000 chips. Hicks considered his decision for quite some time, before suddenly announcing "Call."

At the showdown, Ruiter revealed the {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for two pair, while Hicks could only produce a pocket pair of eights. The {2-Clubs} was the last card off the deck, and Hicks would end up our 13th-place finisher.

Andy and Annette Face Off

Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad
On a board showing {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, Andy checked to Annette who led out with a 22,500 bet. Andy made the call.

The flop brought the {10-Hearts} and again, Andy checked to Annette, who fired a second bullet - this time for 28,000. At this point, Andy went into the tank for quite some time before eventually making the call.

The last card off the deck was the {Q-Clubs}, and again, Andy passed the action to Annette, who dropped a 50,500 bomb on the river.

Andy called immediately and Annette wow'ed the crowd when she turned over {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} - she'd flopped the second nuts!

"Nicely played," said Andy after the hand.

"Two pair, Andy?" Thierry van den Berg inquired. "No, I made a straight," replied Andy.

Daan Ruiter vs Ludovic Lacay

Ludovic Lacay
Ludovic Lacay
Daan Ruiter raised to 17,000 from the cut off. Ludovic Lacay in the small blind re-raises to 50,000 on the button. Daan ponders for a while but makes the call.

The flop is {J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

Daan checks and Ludovic methodically puts together a stack of 65,000 chips and pushes it over the line. The dealer starts to count the chips and Ludovic seemingly iriitated by this says "It's 65,000". Seconds later, the usually inanimate Ruiter starts waving his hands announcing "All in".

Both players have similar stacks, Ruiter 156,000 left and Lacay 200,000 behind. A long stock take of his chips takes place before Lacay folds saying "I think you have queens".

Andy Black Eliminates Noah Boeken

In a battle of the blinds, Andy Black raised approximately half of Noah Boeken's remaining stack from the small blind and Noah shoved all in from the big; Andy called without hesitation.

Black: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Boeken: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

"It's OK, a ten is coming," said Boeken as he sweated the flop.

{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{J-Spades} were the first three cards off the deck and Noah's prophecy turned out to be erroneous. The turn and river blanked off {6-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Noah would settle for 14th-place prize money (€20,420).

Quiet, Please!

Noah Boeken

Noah Boeken raises it up on the button and Anders Pettersson moves all in for 87,000 chips from the small blind.

Noah looks like he has a decision to make whilst at the other end of the table his fellow countryman Thierry Van Den Berg is in a loud animated conversation with a spectator. "Shhhhh!" announces Noah, flapping his hand down in a gesture for quiet.

Eventually he folds {A-Spades}{7-Hearts} face up, not willing to gamble for more than half his stack.

Change of Plans

Originally, we were scheduled to play down to an eight-handed final table, but we've just been informed by a reliable source in the media room that we'll be playing down to nine, instead. The reason behind the decision was the fact that the event is not being televised.

Anders Pettersson Doubles Through van den Berg

Anders Pettersson
Anders Pettersson
Short-stacked, Anders Pettersson moved all in from the cutoff for 43,000 and was called by Thierry van den Berg in the small blind. At the showdown, Anders revealed {A-Clubs}{5-Spades} while van den Berg showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

The flop came {Q-Spades}{K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, giving Thierry a gutshot straight draw, but the {5-Clubs} on the turn gave Anders all the help he'd need to take down the pot.

After the hand, Pettersson stacked up just under 100,000 in chips.

Martin Green is Eliminated!

Martin Green

The quiet did not last long. A blind-on-blind battle developed between Thierry Van Den Berg and Martin Green. Thierry raised from the small blind and Martin pushed from the big. Thierry made the call and was ahead with {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} against {A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. No help for the Englishman and he was eliminated in 15th place, earning €15,320.

And We Have Calm!

Andy Black
Andy Black
After the frantic early pace things have slowed down considerably. The pots are small and not many get past the flop. Andy Black just predicted a big clash between himself and Annette three quarters of the way through the last level of the day. This was just after winning a small 50,000 chip pot from her.
