PokerStars EPT Dublin Main Event

Day 2 Completed

Day 2 is a Wrap

The 221 players who entered the EPT Dublin Main Event have been whittled down to 24. The cream of the crop rose to the occasion today, as a number of big-name pros have made it through to Day 3 and earned a minimum payday of € 10,210 in the process.

Amongst those returning tomorrow are pros Andy Black, Annette 'Annette_15' Obrestad, Noah Boeken, Johnny Lodden, and Luca Pagano. Andy Black is the unofficial chip leader heading into Day 3 -- we'll post the official counts as soon as they are made available to us.

Join us tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. local time for our continued coverage of the PokerStars EPT Dublin Main Event, as we play down to the eight-handed final table. Until then, good luck and good night!

Dave Colclough Bubbles in 25th Place

David Colclough
David Colclough
We caught up with the hand on the flop, which read {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}. From the small blind, Dave Colclough passed the first action to Reijo Manninen in the big blind, who made it 6,000 to go.

At this point, Colclough announced "Raise," and proceeded to move the remainder of his chips across the betting line. Manninen spent quite some time in the tank before making the call with the {10-Spades}{7-Spades}; Colclough showed {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Unfortunately for Colclough, the {J-Spades} on the turn gave Manninen the pot-clinching nuts, and ended Colclough's hopes of earning his first cash in an EPT event.

Amazingly, Colclough has failed to cash in each of the 14 EPT events he's entered. Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that this is his third bubble finish on the EPT circuit -- talk about tough luck.

Colclough's elimination means that the 24 players remaining are officially in the money.

"Who Wants to Go Out on the Bubble?"

Thierry van den Berg
Thierry van den Berg
. . . asked Andy Black as the players looked down at the cards during the first hand of hand-for-hand play.

Certainly not Thierry van den Berg, who took quite a bit of time to fold his cards in a hand against Casper Hansen. On a board showing {J-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, Casper led out with an 11,000 bet. Thierry then upped the ante to 31,000 total and Casper responded with a reraise of his own, making it 80,000 total.

After a solid three minutes passed, Thierry folded and asked Casper to show him one. "I'll tell you tomorrow," Casper replied.

Bubble Time!

Tony Cascarino
Tony Cascarino
Former Irish international soccer player Tony Cascarino was just eliminated in 26th place, and with 24 getting paid we are now on the bubble. Play will continue hand for hand until another player is knocked out.

Raggedy Ann and Andy

Andy Black and Annette Obrestad

The talk of the tournament at the moment is the fact that Andy Black and Annette Obrestad are sitting next to each other, and each has a mountain of chips in front of them. The potential for some major fireworks is there, but don't be surprised if these two ultimately decide to stay out of each other's way.

Johnny Lodden Eliminates Andreas Hoivold

Andreas Hoivold

After a fit of raising and reraising, Andreas Hoivold moved all in over the top of a bet made by Johnny Lodden, which sent Lodden into the tank. A crowd of spectators gathered as Lodden pondered his decision.

After a good bit of time had passed, Lodden opted to make the call, revealing a pocket pair of queens; Hoivold showed {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

The pair wished each other luck and shook hands before the community cards were dealt: {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Lodden's queens held up, putting an end to the day for Andreas Hoivold.
