Can you fold a pair?

Danish star Martin Wendt just made the call of the tournament so far.

Jeff Lisandro limped in on the button for 150 and Wendt completed the small blind. The player in the big blind made it 550 more and only Wendt called.

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and both players checked.

Turn: {J-Clubs} and the big blind bet 1100. Wendt called.

River {7-Diamonds} and Wendt check-calls another 1750 with {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, just bottom pair which was good enough against his opponent's unimproved {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}.

Wendt then apologized and blamed the Internet for his being a calling station.

Lisandro Running Well

Lisandro calls a mid position raise,

Flop Comes

{6-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Lisandro bets, opponent calls

turn comes

{5-Diamonds}

Check, Check

River brings

{2-Spades}

Opponent checks and Lisandro bets, Opponent dwells up for an age, then calls. Lisandro shows {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for the turned straight, and scoops about a 6,000 chip pot. Jeff is now sitting on about 26,000 chips.

With 150 players still in....

....it's turning out to be an awful day for the Irish as both Roy Brindley and Eoghan Lyons have taken early baths. Brindley exited at the hand of Age Spets.

Lyons decided to make a stand with a Jack high flush draw and walked into an Ace high flush draw. Whoops!

Devilfish Accumulating

Devilfish raises 1,000 preflop and gets called in one spot, flop comes

{9-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}

Devilfish bets 1,200 and gets called. turn comes,

{3-Spades}

Check, Check

River Comes

{9-Hearts}

Devilfish checks, and his opponent bets out 2,000.

The 'Fish calls and shows {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} to his opponent's {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Ulliott tells the table in general, "You don't want to be bluffing the 'Fish now, boys." The 'Fish is up to over 20,000 chips now.

Slowplay, No Pay

Mark Vos
Mark Vos
Mark Vos just lost a substantial chunk of his chips but still appears to have close to his starting stack.

Three-way action. The flop was {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and everyone checked. Then a lot chips flew into the middle when a {9-Diamonds} came on the turn.

{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for Vos
{9-Clubs}{9-Spades} for Scott Fischman.

Apparently the third player in the hand also folded a weaker queen.

This is turning out to be an interesting table with The DevilFish and Mats Iremark now sitting on Vos' right.
